Small Things, Big Change

little changes that make a big difference

Y’all, my office is moving right along. And even though it was motivating to do the big huge things like a new/old door and fresh paint on the floor, ceiling and walls, there’s nothing like putting out a smattering of pretty, meaningful things to make a big huge change. Finally, this office feels like it’s mine.

office

I can hang things!!! I cannot exaggerate how fun it’s been to start girlifing this room with all of my pink and blue stuff! It’s been packed away for way too long and I’ve collected a few other things to add to the girlie office feel. All I did was shop the house (actually the barn, and the trees) for anything I could use together in a vingette.

office

I needed a place to set stuff right inside the office door so I grabbed my old yard sale library table and started layering stuff on there. I needed a lamp, a place to set stuff like my phone and bag and my jewelery that I always seem to strip off. And of course I wanted it to be fun and creative and inspiring.

all by grace plate

The first thing I did was prop up my old painting so I knew where to start a random, layered plate wall. I love this little “all by grace’ dessert plate created by DaySpring for (in)courage (friends of Nesting Place and sponsor of this post). It actually was the starting point for the entire wall.

On the table I used a salad plate (shhhh) and a sugar bowl to be a landing zone for my phone and other non manly items that are in the house. No bullets, remotes or bottle caps in this space! These little dishes are just a tiny part of an entire new line of dishes called Daily Grace collection. But even split apart they have many uses. The little square salad plate would look sweet hanging on a girl’s wall. Stack a journal and a nice pen on the dish and tie with a ribbon for a great gift.

I’m so thrilled with my little ahhhh moment in my office. I love how small, easy changes can have such a big impact.

daily grace

Take a look at the new Daily Grace collection with all sorts of surprising pieces from salad bowls, trays, butter dishes to tea pots and memo boards with chalk board labels, it’s one of my favorite lines EVER from DaySpring and (in)courage and I heard a rumor they have more collections coming soon!

Gallery Wall, In Progress

gallery wall in progress

I’m creating a gallery wall in our upstairs family room/homeschool room, dogs room? I started about a month ago and keep forgetting how much time it takes for a gallery wall to evolve. Because it’s still not done. A few months ago we moved the leather sofa upstairs, along with our TV. I got a […]

Easy Wall Art

5 minute wall art

Yesterday I was suddenly in need of a quick change in our family room but I didn’t want to go buy something. I had that wood frame that’s waiting for photos to be printed out–wait, who am I kidding, I haven’t even taken the photos yet. It’s gonna be a little while until I get […]

What’s On My Walls

come thou fount

Since my house is in chaos, my walls are in chaos too.  My husband is working on a project for me from Ashely’s book but, it’s not top on the list right now so my walls have turned into randomness. It’s been fun to put something up knowing it’s super temporary (isn’t everything?) and […]

Three Secrets to Creating That Perfect Focal Wall

DSC_0029

The white sofa is the perfect wingman. Everything looks good next to a white sofa. It’s the winning supporting actor, best friend, “hey everyone don’t look at me, look that beautiful thing over there”  item you could have in your home.  The white wall is a close second. Even when the white sofa gets old […]

You’re Gonna Wish You Had More Walls

handmade_walls_sneak_peek

I’ve rarely wished I had more walls.  Normally I wish I had LESS walls.  Because wall decor is hard. Figuring out what to put on our walls has been a journey. A journey with much indecision and filling in of nail holes.  I have a little aversion to mass-produced “art”.  Although I do have some […]

Gold Leafing

gold leaf

I’ve been wanting a little change in the dishes hanging above the window in our breakfast area…but what to do? After not kicking me off the internet for using their duct Tape instead of paint to make a diamond wall, ScotchBlue Brand asked me if I could come up with a project for their painters […]

Chalkboards 3 Ways

I’m not a fair weather chalkboard fan.  I use chalkboards in different ways in my house and I thought I’d do a post here to round them all up all nice and neat in one place. Pin It
