31 Days of Change :: Are You In?

Oh mercyness.

October is almost here and I have yet to write even ONE post for my 31 Days for this year.  How about you?  Remember how we invited everyone to join in the fun, instead of just the 8 of us girls from last year writing for 31 days we wanted the world to suffer  have fun with us.

So, it’s not to late to decide to join in committing to writing on one topic, every day during the month of October.  It can be ANYTHING, really ANYTHING.  Wondering what the 8 of us from last year are writing about this year?

Jen - 31 Days to Balancing Both Beauty and a Budget

Jessica – 31 Days of Memory Keeping

Melissa: – 31 Days: Inspired Holidays

Sandy – 31 Days of Warm Connections

Darcy: 31 Days of Photo Tips

Emily: 31 Days to Change the World

Emily: 31 Days of the Little Things

Nester – 31 Days of Charming Imperfection

October 1st we’ll have a linky party where you can link up to the intro/first day post of your series.  Feel free to make yourself a cute button and choose any topic that you are passionate about.

I thought today would be a fun time to have a little conversation in the comments–you can share your topic, ask questions, and just be chatty.  I’ll monitor the comments every now and then and hey, feel free to do the same and if you know the answer to a question go ahead reply to someone in the comments~if I see the same question come up multiple times  I’ll try to address it in a post next week.  Here’s the previous post about 31 days, be sure to read it first if you have questions–it may answer them.

Want to see my posts from last year for ideas?  You can find them all here.

So, are you joining in?  What’s your topic?

YIKES!!!! I want in –no I don’t –yes, yes I do–this is a tough one.
Mine could be—31 days of 31 days? I mean what could I possibly say. I just quit a fabulous job
( something I’ve wanted to do for 3 years now) so I could spend time with my kiddo, who — went off to college, I moved to a new city and my hubs is always working out of the country. I’m at peace, yet I feel so disconnected from contentment….I’ve got too much time on my hands now, and I wonder around aimlessly and watch alot of TV–something I’ve not done in over 15 years!!!! I need help..ahaha

  2. Cherie says:

Wow! So many great ideas that I’m excited to read about! I’m planning on; 31 Days of Menus: planning, execution, ideas & inspiration. Because so many times it’s hard to get a grasp on what meals on a plant based diet look like. Plus, I think regardless of dietary choices getting dinner on the table for a family meal is a great priority!

  3. Elisabeth says:

Okay, I’m in! (said with trepidation) I even made my first button. I found The Blog Guidebook – http://www.blogguidebook.com/2010/05/how-to-make-button-using-picnik.html and she gives a step by step tutorial that worked for me!

I’ll be writing about 31 days of Kitchen Inspiration – recipes, organization, kitchens decor and whatever else I can think of. Man, do we have to do this on the weekends, too? What a challenge this should be!

  4. Jenelle says:

I’m so in. I’ve been looking forward to this since you talked about it the first time. I even started a new blog for it. Well, I started a new blog so that I could blog. But I got it all set and ready so that I could join in 31 days. So excited.

My topic will be 31 days of Joy.

  5. Merry says:

I’m in! 31 days to Thankfulness. I’m developing a new attitude and I am replacing a complaining heart with one of gratitude.

  6. Pamelotta says:

I’m not sure I have anything new to offer right now, so I’m thinking about going back through your 31 days to a less messy nest and just chronicling my progress. That really needs to be my only priority right now. My nest is a big, scary mess! On the other hand, it would take a huge amount of vulnerability for me to expose those before shots! I’m still on the fence.

  7. I am in and really looking forward to the challenge. But first…I have to decide on a topic, currently torn between 31 days to a better attitude or 31 days to better relationships. I write and speak a lot on handling conflict so I have lots of material to work into it. Anyone have thoughts?

  8. Kim says:

Hi Nester! LOVE these challenges…thank you (and the rest of the gang) so much for doing them again this year. I would love to do a series on my little blog on 31 days to vintage living in a modern world – old school advice that still rings true in the real world.

  9. Anna says:

    This would be a challenge…Hmmm…

    31 Days of Feel Good.

We get so bogged down in the stuff of life that we forget what makes us feel good. Could be digging your favorite sweater out and wearing it for the first time, could be making bread from scratch, could be completing a long-awaited project. There are lots of things that can make you feel good if you choose to acknowledge them.

  10. I think I would like to do 31 to Breaking Your Mold – I think sometimes it’s easy to get into a rut about who you are and how you define yourself. I know I have been through so many changes in my life and learning how to adapt and become a new person when it’s time is a skill every woman should master!

  11. I changed my topic….. Lol. What do you guys think about 31 days to Time Management? I am a project and change manager. I see people struggle with this topic all the time. What do you think. Would you be interested?

  12. lailani says:

Excited to follow all of you! (I am completely incapable of a post a day. I. Am. A. Loser. ;)) Just kidding (not really), that will leave me time to READ.

  13. Anna says:

If I think I will actually have time, may be fun… But I wonder if anyone can suggest the best system to use to set up a blog – I don’t have the facility on my website at the moment… Thank you! xx

  14. Tracy K says:

31 DIYs to try! Some failures, some successes (hopefully). This will give me the push I need to set my blog live.

  15. judy h. says:

I’d love to take this on, but I am not a blogger and doubt if I could figure the whole thing out in time. But…I do remember how delighted I was with last year’s 31 days. If it’s okay, I’d like to come along for the ride and enjoy the creativity and fun of all the other bloggers and maybe (surely) glean some great tips and smiles.

  16. judy h. says:

Ahhh! Most importantly, (how could I have forgotten), GOOD LUCK Nester! I know that anything you’re involved with will be wildly entertaining and successful. Prayers for a fruitful 31 days.

  17. Scooper says:

Yep, I’m in. Super nervous. Super excited. “31 Days of Real”–that’s my topic. I haven’t written anything but I have made a list of the posts I want to do. Also? I don’t know how to make buttons. And I don’t have a blog designer. Hopefully I won’t be a complete loser as the buttonless blogger. : )

  18. This is perfect! I’ve been toying with “shutting down” my blog. I can’t seem to make the time to write and little technical difficulties get in the way. I’m going to commit to 31 Days of something and see how I feel at the end. Thank you, Nestor–my mentor who doesn’t know it. :)

  19. Joelle says:

I just found this, and I am playing with the idea of joining too. I have so many goals and ideas of who I want to be and what I want to do in life, I’m just having a hard time figuring it all out. I do a weekly goals series, so that could definitely be incorporated somehow…So, I’m thinking of 31 Days of Being Me: Reconciling what I want in life and actually working to get there. Maybe it needs a new title? Who knows…

    xoxo,
    Joelle

  20. It would be nice to participate, but it sounds like everyone is giving advice of some sort … and I’m not really sure I have any to offer. I think I could write about a topic for 31 days. Maybe. LOL But I think it would be along the lines of doing something consistently, then writing about it. Such as getting more (some) pictures, or scrapbooking, or exercise shoved into my day … but not necessarily telling others how to do those things better. I’m challenged just to do them myself!

    • TheMHalf says:

I’m going to explore yoga for 31 days. I’m no expert at all, and I don’t plan to give advice. I plan to talk about poses, the mind/body connection for me, and how I progress through it. Is that interesting? Maybe you shouldn’t listen to me. ;-)

  21. Hope Easter says:

I’ve thought about doing 31 Days of Photos. Then posting a story that goes along with each photograph. It seems fitting for me, because I am a photographer as well as a blogger. I’m so excited to participate!

  22. I’m in! The creatively thrifty design team at my new blog, Hearth Hands Home.com needs a little push, and our official launch date is October 1st – so this sounds perfect! Thanks so much for opening it up to everyone! Our topic: 31 Days of Frugality.

  23. Melissa says:

I’m in! I loved this series last year.

I’m going to do 31 Days of Pinterest! I’ll actually do something about all those pins I have. :)

  24. Stephanie says:

Um…ok….so, yeah….I’m in? A commitment like this terrifies me, so maybe I should write about 31 Days to Commit to your Commitments! Nah, I haven’t decided on a topic yet but I’m leaning toward 31 Days of Smiles to include all things that make my heart smile. I’m excited! …and did I mention terrified?

  25. melissa says:

to write…not to write… that is the question. you know i’ll do it…just trying to figure out what i want to do.

  26. Becky says:

    Nester,
Is it possible for you to get back to 31 days of fabulous decorating ideas? I really miss the old days.

  27. Lisa says:

I had the same panic today that October is only a week away. I’ll be doing a 31 Days of Mentoring Training series and need to seriously get started on crafting those posts! Thanks for the opportunity to join in!

  28. I am totally in, but not sure about what topic to write about. It needs to be something that I’m already doing since I work full-time, am taking classes, am trying to get a blog up and running, and am a mother of a 3 1/2 year old. So the first thing that came to mind was 31 Days of Parenting Tips. Is that too boring? If so, I’ll come up with something else. I would love to do 31 Days of Decorating or 31 Days of Fun, Easy Projects, but I just can’t see myself having the time to follow through.

  29. Amy says:

How will I find time read all of these great posts? I am doing 31 Days of Internet Goodies. I will be sharing lots of fun & free websites every day!

  30. Tia says:

Oh how I wish! We are traveling the first week of October, and I have all three of my kids’ birthdays to plan, implement and enjoy in October. Needless to say, if it were any other month, I would be completely in, and my topic would be “31 Days: It Filled my Soul with Exceedingly Great Joy”, or 31 days to a memorable birthday party.

  31. I’m in! I’m going to be doing 31 Days to a Cleaning Routine – nothing too crazy, just a couple quick tips and a simple schedule to follow every day , with the goal at the the end being that participants will have a simple cleaning routine down that they can follow all year long. Thanks for the inspiration!

  32. Charity says:

Loving this challenge!!! I’ve settled on 31 Days of Poetry. It’s the perfect time of the year to get cozy and read some favorites!

  33. Jamie Wells says:

man am i glad i found you. i’ve been wanting to write so bad. i’m by no means a writer, but i like to just because. i have a blog that i’m slacking on. i have a couple ideas. 31 days of letters ~ write the things i need/want to say to people in my life both alive and those that have passed. or 31 days of short stories based off of one word. hmmmm

    • Anna says:

The letters sound fantastic. I used to write letters all the time when I didn’t have the nerve to say things to people or just couldn’t figure out HOW to say it. It was so helpful. Get it out girl!!

  34. Okay, I’m going to work on a project. I’ll start organizing it this weekend. I have three kids and years of papers and artwork that I set aside and have kept telling myself … “I’ll get to that later.” Well, later will be October 2011. I’ll call it 31 days of searching for memories. I’ll accomplish three tasks: blogging every day, finishing a project I’ve literally put off for almost a decade, and clearing a few boxes out of my garage. #winning

  35. Jules says:

I don’t think I’m going to teach anyone anything. Instead, I’m going to give myself a gift and do 31 days of purging/uncluterring around the house. I’m helping my friend go through her parents stuff (they both died in June) and let me tell you: you DO NOT realize how much useless stuff you have laying about.

  36. Missy K says:

I’m feeling nervous about it, but God has been tapping on my should lately.

I want to write about 31 Days of Belovedness.

  37. Samantha says:

“31 Days of maintaining basic hygien while trying to keep up with all the other 31 Days posts”

Seriously though, I can’t wait! I learned so much last year. October is my favorite!

  38. EEEEKKKK!!!!!!! I am working on 31 Days to Encouraging your Husband. :) I’m excited but nervous that 31 days is gonna be too overwhelming… Hopefully it will just all come together. ;)

  39. Alysia says:

I am thinking 31 days to a healthier me. I need some motivation to get back on track! Or 31 days to a greater marriage. Focusing on doing things for our relationship. Hmm

  40. I’m going to do 31 Days of Sabbath. Sabbath is my word for the year, and I’ve written a few posts about what God is teaching me. But i love the idea of having a full 31 consecutive days to share.

I’m both excited and intimidated. But that’s the right response, right?

  41. Angie says:

I’d like to do this! My theme will be 31 Days to Zero Clutter.

  42. Alayna says:

31 days, 31 days…. Honestly I love the idea but am hesitant to jump on board because you know what our lives revolve around in October? Birthdays. There are at least 5 in the family during the first 2 weeks of the month, including my own. I guess there could be a good theme in that though – 31 days to a better birthday? Would anyone read that? Party planning and prep, gift ideas, thoughts on turning another year older… Input??

  43. My husband and I are going to blog together! How fun! 31 Days of Pursuing Your Spouse (we think that will be the name. Still praying about it.) Thanks Nester!! This rocks.

  44. Fleur says:

Well, I just started a blog (litterally like one and half posts in)…and I think this will be the motivation I need to actually get the ball I mean blog rolling. I am going with 31 days to a healthier you (I really need to think of a title with more pizazz). I am seriously on a get my whole family to be super fit because we wanna be healthy and not cuz we’re vain kick…..hmmm…..now I better go learn how to make a button :) Happy brainstorming everyone!

  45. Heather says:

I love this! I’m thinking 31 days of reconnecting…I’m working on leaving behind the hustle and bustle of our day to day and find out what’s important! Connecting to family, old friends, new friends, encouraging my son to get connected etc. I love the 31 days!!!

  46. Betsy says:

Discovered your blog through a friend…love it! Though I can’t guarantee that I will actually make it all 31 days, I’m going to be posting about this topic: 31 days of Me, Myself & God: Finding Beauty and Purpose in Singleness. I will be praying about it this week, but I feel like this is a topic that has been near-and-dear to my heart for the past couple of years, and I would love to explore it further. Thanks for giving me the motivation to do so :)

  47. Renee says:

I’m in and I think it will be 31 days of de-cluttering my house…it’s a huge challenge both on the de-cluttering part and the writing part…I guess we’ll see if it works!

  48. Renee says:

Actually, I’m not sure I’m in…I’ll be traveling a lot of October, so maybe I’ll try in January when things are settled…January seems like the perfect month for me as we struggle to get rid of all the holiday stuff!

  49. I’m in, too! I was going to write about 31 Days of Simple Frugality, but have decided to change to 31 Days to Joyfully Thrive. It will still have a lot of the same frugality topics, but it allows me to branch out a bit. I’m excited about reading your series and everyone else’s!

  50. Christy says:

Thank you so much Nester for inviting us to participate. I am so going to enjoy the challenge!

My topic is 31 days of becoming. I am excited to share the words that have been laid upon my heart. (http://www.crittyjoy.com/critty_joy/2011/09/coming-in-october.html)

I was wondering if you did any of your writing before the start of October but I see that you answered that in the post. Glad to know I am not alone…. I am working to get some posts done but oh dear has September been busy! :)
