My 5 year old has been talking about it all week… like she knows Kate on a personal level. I will dvr the coverage. I’m in NC too and just hadn’t checked to see what time the coverage starts. Thanks Nester for keeping me updated on the Urgent, Life Altering information. Wondering if I will be able to stream from the web because I have 3 kids and I don’t think they will take to being cooped upstairs where the TV is all day.

  2. Gale says:

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Can’t wait to see it – even rescheduled our plumber coming until Monday.. LOL!!! I’m so excited and my husband thinks I’m C-R-A-Z-Y! :)

  3. In CO the coverage starts at 2am. I have already set up my DVR to tape every second of the NBC coverage. I’m even taping an hour after the officale coverage ends, just in case it runs long.

  4. Colleen says:

It Starts here at 2 AM MST. (Utah)And YESSSSSS I will up and watching Just as I did when Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married. Plus I have it set on DVR to record. :) Happy wedding watching.

  5. carla says:

4 am oh my ! I wanted to see it but I do not have DVR so I don’t know. There is a special on tonight at 8 pm ( 7 central) a look inside the royal wedding that I want to see. on NBC.

  6. Randall says:

You bet! My mother got up to watch Charles and Diana, I will get up to watch William and Kate!

  7. Sole Ravendo says:

Of course I will just like I did when C and D got married when I was a little girl…!

  8. Meg says:

I’ll be recording to come home and watch it after work–so excited!

  9. PinkCatJo says:

Definitely!!! Although as I’m in London it will be at a more civilised hour than for you – well done on getting up to watch it. You all deserve to be rewarded as honorary Brits!

I’m thinking of heading up to the centre of town to see all the festivities. I’d love to get a look at Kate’s dress.

Off to put up bunting and flags now and make Union Flag cupcakes! x

  10. 3mily says:

Honestly, no…. I was way more interested when the Bush daughters and Chelsea Clinton got married. That all would have been interesting to see live. Don’t hate me! :-) I’m just providing an alternative viewpoint.

  11. Kristina says:

I took the day off so I can watch everything!!!

  12. Paige says:

Ummm, I wouldn’t wake up at 4am for my OWN wedding, so I am definitely not waking up fr William’s. ha!!! I am sure they will replay it later in the day!!! :-)

  13. Absolutely not–just not my thing, but I am sympthetic to those of you who want to see it. Actually, I’ll be glad when it’s over, becuase I am already tired of the coverage. Leave a few tv channels for the rest of us!

  14. Cindy says:

Absolutely! I’m in Phoenix but will grab some sleep and set my alarm for the middle of the night. I’m a patriotic American, but love a good fairy tale as much as anyone. My husband was British and we lived in England during Charles & Diana’s wedding. It’s wonderful to see joy bring a country together, especially when facing hard times. England does know how to celebrate Royal Weddings in a down home way. Congratulations, England!

  15. Since January I have been writing Royal Wedding Wednesday posts. While I started out thinking that I was the only Royal loving kook in America I quickly learned that there are many. :)
The posts have covered everything from cakes to castles and have become my most viewed posts to date. Who knew?

I will be watching. Yes indeed. Just as I did as a 12 year old girl in 1981.

  16. Tami C. says:

Won’t be watching, not my thing. Sleep, now that’s my thing.

  17. Amanda M. says:

I will DVR so we can watch that evening. My little 6-year-old is soooo excited at the prospect of seeing a “real” princess!

  18. Heck, ya!

  19. Martha says:

Of course, How often do we get to see a real princess? Plus I have two early risers (7years and 4 years) that are planning on getting up. Wish me luck for the rest of the day. : )

  20. Kristin says:

The spirit is willing, but the body is weak! I’m going to give it a try, but I”ll set my DVR just in case. I’ll probably aim for 5 am. I doubt I can pull off 4:00 like I did when I was 11.

  21. Erin says:

You bet! I’m waking up at 4, then teaching 27 4th graders all day…clearly I’ve lost my mind!

  22. Cheryl says:

I hadn’t been married that long when Charles and Diana got married and I set my alarm and got up to watch….my fairly new husband thought I was nuts and wondered what he had gotten himself into……….I have taken a day of vacation on Friday….my newly married 25 year old daughter is coming into town on Thursday evening and we are getting up to watch William and Kate’s wedding…..we are in the midwest so it’s 3:00 am for us…..we are so excited!!!!………I have visions of William and Kate’s first born getting married down the road….and my daughter, a future grandchild and myself watching…..doesn’t that sound like fun?

  23. I have to work that morning, so unless the people I work for (I nanny) dvr it, I guess I will miss it! But if I didn’t have to work, I would totally be up!!

  24. Amy says:

    Yes! I can’t wait!

  25. Bethe says:

I’ll be getting ready for work. . .so OF COURSE! Just like I did for C & D. I’ll set my DVR to catch the rest of it. Some great comments today. Good post, Nester. :)

  26. Amy says:

I am hosting a playdate for our Sunday school class. I will have a house full of preschoolers for our Royal Wedding Tea Party. We are going to make tiara veils for the girls and the boys are going to make a little coat of arms. I am going to DVR the wedding so the kids can watch some of it. My 4 year old thinks it is awesome that a girl gets to become a real princess. It is going to be so much fun!

  27. I don’t usually get into celebrity weddings and other events, but this feels like a special, historical event to me. So I’m going to catch as much of it as I can! I don’t have access to a DV-R or anything like that, so I’ll have to get what I can get of it. My sister is saving the whole thing on DV-R so she can watch it with her 5-year-old daughter. So exciting!

  28. Bonnie says:

No. Hard for me to get excited about this one with all the pomp and circumstance when they’ve been living together for years. I surely hope theirs turns out better than his parents’.

  29. My mom and I actually have a party planned! Check out our invites: http://deepsouthsweets.blogspot.com/2011/04/deep-south-party-royal-wedding-invite.html

  30. Anonymous says:

Yes, I will be watching and will be getting up at 3:00 AM to watch it live. I was 3 when Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married. My mom woke me up to watch and I still have very clear memories of that morning.

My own little daughter is four, can’t wait to share it with her. However after consulting with my mom have decided to let her sleep, watch in peace myself, and then enjoy the DVR’d version with my children, complete with cake and sparkling punch of course.

  31. Lucinda says:

Not only will I be watching I’ll be a wedding watch brunch! I cut class in collage wtih Di and Charles got hitched (lets hope this marriage fairs better!) so there is no way I’d miss it.

  32. Srah K says:

    I WILL!!!!

I’m so excited to see a real life prince marry a (who knows what the queen will title her with but let’s hope!) girl who was once a commoner and now will probably become a princess!!!!!!! I know many other members of royalty have married commoners but he will be king some day and she will be his queen! Honestly, having read fairy tales since I could put letters together, I am absolutely thrilled to see one unfold before my eyes! I know I sound so giddy about this and I’m a young professional, happily married, with a sensible mind of my own, however, to watch this royal wedding makes me feel so lucky! We only read about wedding such as these in history books unless one was lucky enough to see Queen Elizabeth II marry Phillip, Diana and Charles marry. I’m simply ecstatic and feel very honored that this will be televised and I can watch. I always wanted to be a princess. there. I said it.

  33. Kara says:

Of course! We’re having a royal wedding sleepover here!

  34. I’m going to try to get up between 3 & 4 (Central time)! I drove home from college back in 1981 (yes, I’m old) to watch Diana’s wedding in color!! Now I have a family & a flat-screen!

  35. Jennifer M says:

Yes! I can not wait! I’m going to get up and watch and DVR it, and replay it all day long! Can’t wait to see the hats. And THE DRESS. Kate is so elegant, I can not wait to see what she has created.

  36. Stephanie says:

I would like to but I doubt my body would let me and also my husband would tease me till the end of time and I would end up smothering him in his sleep and then end up in jail! Not worth it just to see a royal wedding :)

  37. courtney says:

I totally want to have a royal wedding breakfast, but with little ones that’s about crazy impossible, so I think we will set the DVR and watch it with my mama (hubs has no interest!)

  38. I had to check out the comments on this, as I wondered if Americans would be interested too! In Canada, we’re all crazy for it as well. (Well, actually, some haters are anti-Monarchy here, so they’re not into it!)

  39. Ali says:

    YES!!!

  40. Bex says:

Absolutely – I wouldn’t miss this for all the tea in Britain! I will have to squeeze my work (I work at home) in amongst the coverage, but I can’t wait. I just pray all goes well for them.

  41. Rachel says:

My DVR is primed and ready!

  42. YES!!!!! But I’m lucky enough to one hour AHEAD of British time, so it will be noon here when the wedding itself takes place. Indy and I went to the British shop today to get some “authentic” goodies to eat (read: good tea and cookies and cakes) while we watch.
Indy heard on TV that the day was declared a holiday and tried to convince me that he should be allowed off school, but I told him we had to at least do a spelling test before we start watching the coverage. ;)

  43. Jennifer says:

I hope to be able to get up to watch. Lately I have been getting up throughout the night to address stomach virus issues with the kids …. if this happens Thursday night I might have to tape it. But I remember watching a recorded version of Diana and Charles when I was a little girl … and I don’t want to miss this one either. Royal weddings don’t happen often!

  44. Probably not! I value my sleep. But maybe I’ll set the DVR. I remember watching Charles and Diana’s wedding as a little girl. And playing with my Princess Diana paper doll.

  45. SJ says:

YES! I watched Diana’s nuptials back in the day…with my Ma. They are both, sadly, gone now, but to watch Diana’s beautiful boy say “I do” is going to be goose bump inducing :)

It’s like we all get to send him and his bride the love that his Mother would be showering them with…corny, yeah, but that’s how I roll :P

  46. I want to watch when they show Kate in her dress. I wish they would tell us what time that is! You know they know when it will be, am I right? Because otherwise I’ll have to sleep on the couch. Thankfully I’m East Coast so 4am ish isn’t terrible :-)

  47. AJ says:

One of my friends is going to a wedding breakfast – East Coast 4:00 a.m. You are supposed to wear your pjs and a hat, of course!

The episode about the wedding on ABC’s The Middle was cute too.

I’ll be watching but I may sleep in a little.

    Cheers!

  48. Amy G. says:

Heck. Yes. :) Will not even take my allergy medicine the night before to make sure I can wake up. I cannot WAIT!!! (Yay!)

  49. jennybek says:

Yes. I watched Di’s wedding with my mom and sister. My daughter and I will be watching, with my mom, sis and niece either on the phone, or IM. Baby Girl is getting to skip school that day too.

  50. Sharon Avinger says:

YES!!!! I am a retired teacher and can get up any time I want so I’m planning to set my clock (in SC) for 3:30 a.m. since coverage here starts at 4 a.m. I love everything royal and can’t wait to snuggle in my recliner, in my pj’s, and cover up with my throw. I plan to have a mug of hot tea (which I do daily anyway!) and enjoy an orange-cranberry scone! Love it, love it!
