There’s No Wrong

There aren’t many areas of life where there’s no wrong.  There’s no wrong way to eat cotton candy.  There’s no wrong way to laugh.  And I’m so glad there’s no wrong way to decorate for Christmas.  Join me at (in)courage today as we discuss this topic amongst ourselves.

    You’re so right!

  3. Amen to that! If there’s one thing I’ve learned from reading your blog all this time, it’s that “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” You should use that slogan sometime. ;) ;) Will stop over at (in)courage. :)

I didn’t think there was a wrong way to eat cotton candy, either, until I saw this on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills:” (guilty pleasure, sue me) :)

I love your posts and your pictures. Your blog provides some serious positive chi in my life.

  6. I’ve been so inspired by your posts for so long and desire for my home to look more like yours! I asked Emily A. Clark for a design consultation and I listed yours as one of the homes I’m drawn to in blogland. :) She did a wonderful job on my master bedroom mood board, and I’m collecting things right now to start working on it. So excited!

And since you’ve been so kind to inspire me, I wanted to invite you to read the Christmas story I posted today, which is inspirational to me. If you have about two minutes, please pop over and read it. I hope it will bring a smile to your face. :) Merry Christmas! http://katandgray.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-story.html

Dear Nester, I remember hearing the name of your blog a year or two ago from Debbie at “This is the Life.” I just now found you through Sue at “Pear Tree Lane.” Thank you for this post. I agree and look forward to seeing all the pretty decorations people submit. Your blog is really nice and I am glad I found it. Kathi

What an important statement, and oh so true. It’s so easy to get caught up with thinking that everything has to be perfect this time of year. That it should look like a magazine or a postcard. Truly the only thing that matters is that your family enjoys this time of year, and that your home feels special to you. Thanks for reminding me. Hugs-Carrie

I know I’ve said it every time I’ve visited this month, but I am really enjoying the less is more approach I have taken this year. I especially look forward to January when I DON’T have to spend days putting all the stuff away. And while I might get lonesome for a tree occasionally, it makes me feel excited about the prospect of next year!

Okay, going to join the discussion now!

Thanks for sharing this. The older I get the more comfortable in my skin I become. It’s okay to be who you are (who God made you) and to express that in everything in your life, even how you decorate your home. What a good reminder to someone like me who struggles to remember that it’s not a contest. Just be yourself.

    I agree….
I know I mix lots of starfish in EVERYTHING I do and I live in Indiana!
but they make me so happy:):)
I really was meant to live by the sea…but I don’t so I just incorporate in to most everything I do:)

  12. Oh I so needed to read this. Our family had made the decision to not decorate this year. (Yep, it’s true, I wrote a post about it today.) Thankfully it is the right choice for us.

    Be merry and bright.

I used to be so anal about everything looking perfect for christmas until my Husband was sent to Iraq in 2004 and we spent our first Christmas without him. My Daughter was 6 and my son was 3. I let them decorate the tree. It was the loveliest mess I had ever seen! But I loved It!. since then I have let them decorate and its such a great feeling to have a unperfect perfect tree!

Some years there is more time, money, effort, Christmas Spirit. Some years there is less. I find that more is better (even though there is no wrong way) because it ends the year topping off my cup. Simplifying is always good too. Cut the excess and focus on the importance!!
Thanks for hosting the tour of homes. It’s been fun to see so many talented people and meet some new friends too.
    Merry Christmas, Nester!
