Mantel Party Time

Here’s my mantel as of yesterday.  I’m still deep in the midst of tweaking it but who am I kidding, if I wait till it’s “done” I’ll never have this Linky party.

And anyway, you aren’t here to see my mantel, you are here to see other people’s mantels or shelves or surfaces.  So mantel it up and add your link to the list.  Make sure you add the permalink {google it if that confuses you} you can get the permalink to a particular post usually by clicking on the title of that post, then the permalink shows up the in address bar–it starts with http://…now you don’t need to google.

PS: Want to win this darling two tiered garden stand that you can use on your fireplace hearth?  Head on over to Holiday with Matthew Mead and find out how.

Looking forward to seeing all the posts. I’m in the midst of designing the fireplace surround for our family room and am hoping to see one here that will inspire me.

  3. This is just what I needed. After Christmas I took everything down from my mantle and put back up my same ole’ stuff. It seems so bare now and I haven’t been pleased with it since January 1st! Thank you for the inspiration!

  8. I’m very excited about today’s party! I tried to do everything you said in your other post. Big, small, tall, short, nature, meaningful, textures- and I’m very happy with the results! Your blog was a huge inspiration to me when I made the decision to make our house a home last year, and I refer back to your archives all the time! ;-)

  9. Vanessa says:

Hi Nester! I want to join the party but my pics are all so blurry!!! Bad, bad lighting here in this little home… :( and I just can’t get a good pic! I’ll try it later today!

  10. I didnt have a close up!!!!! But I posted anyway. I am going to guess I will have the only metallic bronze mantel in your party! Hahaha!!!

Finally figured out how to make my mantel pretty. Yeah, its gonna be a little bit longer. I’m gonna have to break out the table saw…I mean, Hubby is gonna need to break out the table saw. Me, I need some spray paint.

  13. So many pretty mantels. Hope you will do this again.

  14. Jennifer S. in Good 'Ole Texas says:

So far I’ve gone through all 38 mantles, and I love how each and every one is so different!!! You can see all the unique personalities of the “mantle owners” shine through. What a wonderful way to get inspired! =)

Nester! I have been scouring the internet for pictures of mantels for the last month or so… totally uninspired. Your timing is fantastic! Thank you!!!

  17. Nester your mantel is beautiful as is your entire home! Thank you for hosting such a wonderful party for us to be inspired.

  19. So fun…I can’t believe it but my pictures must be too big since it won’t bring up any of them for a choice…no time to work on fixing it now, but can’t wait to see everyone else’s. :)

  21. Thanks for hosting such a fun party! What a great way to get beautiful ideas!

  22. Jennifer says:

I love that Em was willing to put hers out there with the TV. I have a very small den and we have our TV over the Mantel too. It really bothers me, but that is the best for our family at the moment. Anybody have any ideas for making it more interesting?
If I ever figure out how to post a picture I will join in on all this decorating fun!

  23. Love your shutters and the way you layered with them. Thanks for having the best parties. :)

  24. Megan says:

Aww, this post makes me want a mantel :( Gorgeous pictures though!

  25. Karen says:

    Fun party!

Your mantle is coming alone, miss Nester girl. While I *do* love your pretty white shutters and their fun textural-ness, I hope you are remembering that you are not married to them or required to have them there just because they are big and draw your eyes up. If you feel like you are shackled to them as a backdrop, take them down and try something else. :) Maybe you *heart* them there, so go for it. My suggestion is only for gridlocky, foot-stamping experiences :)

    • nester says:

click on last weeks post telling about the mantel party–they are not there!

no worries, I love moving them around but they always end up back there.

  26. yours is beautiful, and so many lovely ones linked as well!

  27. Nick says:

    Mental mantles!
Will add one when home, if I remember. It’s my mother-in-law’s work though … is that cheating?

  28. So fun…thanks for hosting, Nester!

Maybe when I grow up I can have a mantel as fabulous as yours always are! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.

    ~Amanda

  29. Beautiful mantel. I used to have a weekly mantel party on my site and I recognize many-a-mantel from my parties. So fun!

  30. Traci says:

Thank you so much for having this party. I didn’t have a mantel to link up because I am working on mine. I am loving all of this inspiration, though! Thanks again,
    Traci

  31. Kim says:

So glad I found this fun party. Thanks for hosting and I love how you have yours displayed. I have a thing for lanterns.

  32. I cannot wait until I have some time this weekend. I’m curling up on my couch to check out all the lovely mantles. It’s going to be fun! Thanks for hosting this, I’m excited!

As always, lovely! Your knack for layering textures never ceases to amaze me. :-)

  36. Carmen says:

I think your mantel looks really pretty. I love the feathers!

  37. Charity says:

Ok…that was fun! I’m just wondering, why don’t people hang art above their mantel anymore? I have an oil painting by my mom above mine – I love how art can tie all the colors in a room together. If I had a blog I would link up and show you :)

  38. hey ms. nester!!!!

linking up the easiest mantel decor i’ve ever done…and probably the prettiest – thanks to some blooming branches.

i like how your blue hydrangeas on your hearth tie in with your blue frame. very pretty.

  39. Kristan says:

Mantle parties are my favorite! So glad I found yours!

  40. Anonymous says:

I always have issues with my mantels! Thanks for the party – I need lots of inspiration! Is this a one time mantel party or will you be having it again? If I get my Mantel looking fabulous I would love to join or maybe I should show it off just to get some ideas!!!!

  41. Mary says:

THe above anonymous comment is mine! Didn’t realize the info stuff wasn’t filled out! Sorry!

  42. Carla says:

    BooHoo, I don’t have a fireplace . . . or mantel, so I can’t play. :o(
But I will enjoy looking at everyone’s else’s creations. :o)

  43. I thought I would comment on only my favorites but I kept finding more and more favorites. I’ll be spending all week commenting!

I love seeing all the creativity out there!

  44. I can’t wait to go through them ALL!!! I need help – Lots of help – with this. Especially since I recently had a man trade services with my husband so I could get two bookshelves to flank our fireplace (inspired by your sister’s house) and now instead of a mantel it’s like a 1/2 wall! And LOTS of options and I have no idea where to start!

  45. Jennifer S. in Good 'Ole Texas says:

Ohhh, # 96… I should have never looked as now I adore not only her mantle, but her entire room, and want to change everything I own! =)

  46. Sorry, I had problems adding my thumbnail. I don’t know if you can do anything about that. Or else, could you please delete it and I’ll try again?
    Thanks. (Link #132)

  47. I love the style of the link-up, with photos. I love it!

  48. stacey says:

I absolutely love this post! Your tips were RIGHT on and I can’t wait to spend more time looking at everyone’s mantels!

The one thing I hate about my mantel is that it has a HUGE mirror glued flush against the wall above it. I mean, huge. I’m thinking of DIYing a frame for it. In the meantime, I guess I just gotta deal with it! :)

  49. jenjen says:

What a beautiful party. I have enjoyed seeing everyone’s creativity! I linked up my doily mantel. I’m trying to start a doily revivial – lol.

    Thanks!

    XOXO

  50. I’m glad I found you! I had just finished painting and redoing my living room and mantel! Will be back for sure.

  51. cribtales says:

I’m looking forward to seeing what’s out there. I have yet to see a mantel such as mine – it actually has 3 large windows above it, which makes hanging anything like art or a mirror impossible. It is also very deep – at least 2 feet. And includes large cubbies on either side. A decorating nightmare!

  52. Great idea! I am always needing more mantle inspiration, thanks for hosting :)

  53. This is a COOL idea for a blog party! I loved looking through everyone’s mantle pics~! Thanks, Nester!! =-D
