Kimm at Reinvented talks about the Top Five Budget Decor Rules {eg: Think outside the Barn}.

All this week, Beckie at Infarrantly Creative has been posting about how to reupholster chairs. Makes me want to do it.

Someone just recently emailed me about these drapes available at Country Curtains~they are very similar to the silk buffalo check fabric I used for my own mistreatments {from Hobby Lobby years ago but now it seems it’s all gone!}.  Just in case anyone was looking for them.  You can buy the panels separate from that topper part.

Brent Riggs {founder and inventor of MckLinky} interviews the Nester at Serious Life Magazine.

Don’t forget you can find great links every day at The Nest Files!

  2. brenda says:

OK. I don’t need to read things this early on a Saturday. You mentioned Brent Riggs and then there was a picture. I don’t know what your husband looks like so I though this was a pic from the interview day and that was Brent Riggs. WAIT!!! Why does Brent Riggs have his HAND on Nester’s waist???????

Oh wait. OK. I’m with you now. Maybe a caption would be good? :)

  3. Carmen says:

I have been in love with those curtains for a long time. LONG time!

  10. That chair is gorgeous! Off to read her post!

  11. Jen says:

Love your family picture. I have four boys and all my family pictures have at least one boy pulling a face. I’m also a photographer, so we have lots and lots of those faces captured for all time! I also read the interview and I want you to know that your blog not only frees me from my obsession to have a perfect home, but you’ve taught me that life’s not meant to be perfect either. Maybe it’s because I need to hear it, maybe it’s because I’m a mother of boys too. Either way, thank you! It’s good to be reminded that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!

  12. Lynne in NC says:

    Nester,
Thanks for sharing. Read the interview… NICE~

  13. Great family shot!!!! You look wonderful! Wish I could upholster. I think I may be an upholstery dork. Or maybe just not patient enough….

Sorry to totally ignore everything you spent time and effort writing, but…is that lace leaf Japanese maple in the background yours? I love Japanese maples! Did I mention 2 of my husband’s jobs are landscaping-related? :)

  17. NCJill says:

As a friend of Nester, I can honestly say you would never know she is an introvert! Her fun(ny) personality comes out even in her blog and she is exuberant as is sister, Emily. Beautiful family.

You rock, Nester and I love ya! Hope to hug your neck at church again soon. (if I can get through the numerous fellow-groupies wanting your attention. LOL!)

  18. NCJill says:

Forgot to add that I thought of you last night, Nester, as I was looking at the new Spring line from Pottery Barn. Check it out and see what I mean! :)

  19. I love my black & cream buffalo check curtains from Country Curtains!

  24. Candy says:

Hello, my name is Candy, and I am new to your site. I’ve owned two houses in the past, but jobs and situations have caused us to move around a lot, until recently. We have now moved into our third and final house, and it’s THE house I’ve wanted – my own personal dream house. Praise God! :-)

I am a frugal decorator like you, however, my “style” may seem odd, out dated, or bare to some, but my home is my world, and it works for my family and I.

I’m new to your blog, and was looking around to see if you have a video or picture tour of your house here. I found your Christmas house tour, but that’s it. I’d love to see pictures of each room in your house on usual, non-holiday days.

You can see a tour of my home, and links to many other’s homes here:
    http://myblessedhome.blogspot.com/2010/01/house.html

If you have or do a full tour of your house, I’d love to link to it. Also, if you know of other (non holiday) regluar ole house tours that I haven’t already linked to, please let me know.

Nice to meet you. I like your term “shop the house,” BTW. That’s what I did for some (most) of my “decor.”

    God bless. :-)

  25. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Your kids are hot.

  26. Kellye says:

I ordered those curtains (without topper) for my dining room. They were as close to yours as I could find and I love them!
