I figured out our problem wasn’t too many books or my lazy kids, it’s the fact that we have NO PLACE in our family room to put books. It’s taken me six months to come to this simple conclusion. I’m now on the lookout for a short bookcase from the goodwill.
Is there an issue in your home that could be solved with a simple solution?

Oh, so incredibly funny. I missed that part on AI. Love it. The books all over the den issue…My coffee table from Ikea helps with that…loads of storage. I don’t think they carry it anymore, but it has been a lifesaver. Lots of shelves and a couple of drawers, a great solution for a room with no wall space left.
I loved General Larry last week. Have you ever seen one of those low-pants guys try to run? Hah!!!
I see Harry Potter and the Dangerous Book for boys and I could be looking at my own floors…

Measuring cups are the bane of my existence. Our itty bitty apartment has almost no drawers, and they’ve been floating from cupboard to bathroom to kid’s toy chest for a year. (Best line ever: “Hunny, where’s the teaspoon??” “It’s in the fruitbasket, under the socks.” Yeah. My house rocks).
Then I discovered Command Strip Hooks. LOVE.
Our books are vertically stacked two deep on cheapo shelves from Walmart. And in some corners. And in two drawers of my desk. I distrust people if I don’t see books when I walk into their houses.
Too. Freakin. Funny.
Seriously, lovin’ it.
I was having the same problem, so I made these wall book displays. So far they have worked great the kids even put the books AWAY. It is amazing.

Just wanted to say thanks for spurring me on to get my books off the ground in my livingroom. I got a cute new shelf and put books of the bottom two and decorated the top cute with a birdcage. Sometimes it takes someone to point out the obvious to you……I just needed a bookcase in there. THANK YOU!:) Love your site! So much to think about!
