Tobacco Road Block

I’ve gotten lots of emails lately about Tobacco Road {thanks Kathy!}. You know, my favorite paint color that looks good with every other color but pink? Some of you have used it and love it and some of you can’t find it. Have you used it? If so, where did you get it?

From what I gather TR started out as a Duron color and I think Sherwin Williams bought them out. Last year I called someone–Duron? SW? And was told they could still mix it for you if you asked for the original formula Tobacco Road.

So spill it. Where did you buy your paint? Want to share the formula in the comments? Feel free to leave a link to a post showing where you used Tobacco Road and if you like it. Thanks!

I went to a Sherwin Williams and asked if they could mix the Duron Tobacco Road (8213) but was told he couldn’t. I went to another SW and they said yes. Had them mix a sample quart and tried it, loved it, went back and got a gallon. As I was painting, I thought it want’ the same color, but thought, maybe it needed two coats. After 2 coats, it still is different than my sample. They both have the same color match, which I thought was odd. I was told that usually the small samples would have a different configuration. The sample is more gold, a little darker, more depth to it, though I do like both. So now I don’t know which one is the real Tobaco Road. Has any one else had this problem? Debbie

  4. I was just at Sherwin WIlliams today ( 1-4-2011) and asked about Tabacco Road. I told them it was a discontinued Duron color. The girl brought out a paint chip book with “Graham Paints” printed on it. It has the Tabacco Road and the Plantation Beige right next to each other on the pant strip. I asked her if that was the same as the Duron color since it said Graham Paint on it and she said that it is the same color. She said that a handful of companies use the same paint swatches so the duron and the grahams is the same. It is part of the mellennium color collection fan deck. She couldn’t give me the paint chip but she did say she could mix up a sample for me if I wanted it. The color in my living room is very close to it and I really like it. I read on garden web that some lady was selling paint chips of tobacco road for $10 online, that’s crazy. I hope this helps anyone looking for those colors. Happy painting!

  5. I just bought Tobacco Road at Kwal today. I know this is an old post, but I thought people may still be looking for it. I’m not sure that it’s exact, but it looks pretty close. I did ask for the old Duron color and they had the card to show a sample, but not one to take home.
