life

As I get to know myself better and allow my personality to be acknowledged by the rest of myself, I’m okay with catering to myself and taking the little trouble to change something for the bigger payoff of long-term rewards and ease.

Can I get a hallelujah? Or an eye roll, and eye roll would be fine as well.

I’ve noticed a healthy pattern that seems to work.

  • Evaluate.
  • Notice what brings joy.
  • Simplify.

I’m learning there are some things in my life that need to be more automated so that more important things in my life can move away from automatic pilot mode.

It’s one of the gifts technology can give us if we let it.

fellas

I used to not feel like I deserved to make things easier on me. Like somehow I would get extra credit for doing things the hard way. Now I pay attention to what simplifies my life–even if it seems weird or small. And if it also brings joy and delight–I pay extra attention because that’s like getting bonus points!

Like when the Postman, UPS or FedEx man pulls in my driveway. It’s all I can do to not run out to greet him like he’s Pa and I’m Half-Pint in my apron and braids, arms wide open what did you bring me?!

Its fun to get stuff delivered, and my deliveries are an odd mix of books and food and things I’d otherwise have to make a special trip “into town” for using up a half a day. So every time that delivery man and his truck pull in, I feel like he is part of my team, helping to simplify my life.

My most recent delivery was a box of yummy snacks of all things. Snacks! Like actual snacks that you can actually eat and they come in a box all packaged up delivered by the delivery man on my team. Who would have thought one day we can have delicious snacks that can’t always be found in our local stores delivered right to our doorstep? I’m experiencing delight and taking note.
