It’s Monday

Hi everyone!!!

I feel like we haven’t gotten to talk in forever. I’ve taken an unofficial, unplanned blogging break over the past weeks, well, kind of more like months, okay, actually, when I look back it seems like it’s been over a year. What in the world is going on?

Since I feel so behind in writing here (that’s fancy talk for blabbing all about me and my house and my big self) I thought, what’s the most annoying, self-absorbed, entertaining way to reconnect with you? A series! Yes, I shall do a series all about me! It’s my blog and I can ruin it however I see fit. So next week I’ll do a little series called Things You Might Not Know About Me. Mark your calendars, wake the grandparents, alert the media. And start thinking of something I don’t know about you, this works both ways. Also, I hate it when people announce what they are going to do. Just do it, don’t tell me what you are going to be doing, sheesh. Why do I insist on annoying myself?

Meanwhile, have you been keeping up with the Creating with the Stars contest? I’m the worst person to explain it because I just found out about it last week but, it’s like Dancing with the Stars only instead of being on TV it’s on a blog and instead of dancing it’s DIY home projects and instead of stars it’s home bloggers and instead of professional dancers teaching them the moves it’s more experienced home bloggers mentoring newish home bloggers. I think. I’m still figuring it out but no matter what it is, it’s pretty much amazing to watch these talented folks come up with a new idea every week. I’m waiting for one to faint. And I totally think the winner deserves a mirror ball. You can see this weeks projects and vote here. Here are the winners from round one.

  1. I have a couple of sweet friends in the contest and I’m blown away by the talent and fun things they all create!!!

  2. unintended blogging break. completely understand. right there with ya! must be something in the air. ;) i’m so thankful for creative people posting their homes… it sparks my creativity, and keeps me thinking fresh. for sure. rearranging my furniture is probably what i’m doing during that said blogging break. that, or chasing the kiddos. ;)

  3. Last night I dreamed you helped me make my bed.
    Thank you.

  4. You haven’t been living a real life during this break, have you? Because we thought we were your whole life! I hope you have been having some fun in this season. I know that life is never exclusively fun, but I prefer those seasons that are heavier with joy and gladness!

  5. i’m going to have to know where that dr. seuss pillow came from. because i just died inside. kthxbye!

  6. The talent is amazing in that contest. That picture up there of the project is actually what I voted for this week. I love it!
The rest was amazing too though! Hard to pick!

  7. for the “getting to know you series” …how you became debt free (the challenges and triumphs), more about the boys (their quirks, how they feel about your job, the challenges of being a mom to boys), how you and emily are as sisters ( good/bad experiences, your blogging differences/sameness/fans, etc), your daily routine (and how you get it all done), where you want to take your career in the future, and maybe have an official coming out party for your name!!! even tough we already know it. ;)

    • Oh my word, actually a few of those were on my 4 part series list, I could write about myself forever! I’m sure someone said that right before they got punched in the face.

  8. Good luck! Those entries are all just so good!

  9. I just almost had a heart attack! Thank you SO much for writing about our Creating with the Stars contest. It’s simultaneously inspiring and depressing (ALL that talent!). So, is THAT the project you voted for?

For the record, I like your series….and knowing about them in advance. :)

    Jess

    • Well, Jess, I voted for 3 but I wanted to vote for all of them! And yes, simultaneously inspiring and depressing!! Luckily, the blog I clicked on from yours showed the backstage of her photo shoot and it looked much more familiar, imperfect and lovely!

  10. sounds like a fun plan!

sometimes a little unplanned break is the best feeling!!!

  11. Your posts just make me smile. That is all.
Well, ok no. About Creating With The Stars – I just started following and voting last week and, aside from being blown away by the amazing entries (and feeling inadequate) it is just too much fun.
Looking forward to your series. Thanks for ruining the surprise.
    :)

  12. so wait, hold the phone, then who in the world has been writing in this space???

  13. I smiled right when I opened this page because that is my favorite Dr. Seuss book! And no joke, 2 seconds later my one year old brought One Fish Two Fish to me to read. I couldn’t make this up! Pinning that pillow!

  14. Like the other Dr. Seuss fans, I covet that pillow!! I live within 15 miles of his museum and I’ve never gone. Shame on me. And there must be something in the air; I just haven’t gotten it together to blog in anything remotely resembling a pattern. Part of it, I know, is computer issues. The rest???? Great bench!! I have to start following that competition. I, too, fear it will make me feel so much more inadequate. Gotta put that aside and cheer them on. Love your writing, you’re so droll.
    Janet

  15. Ahh – I’m in that competition! :) It makes me pretty excited to see you posting about something that I’m involved in – seriously, it kind of blows my mind that to know you saw my project today. I’m just going to convince myself that you voted for me, actually. :) Excited for the new series!

  16. OK, so you’re human, after all! great news!

Every since I opened my shop, 4 months ago, our bed is seldom made. Shame on me!

What I really want to know, is did someone make that cow hide ottoman/coffee table in the photo collage on your blog? I want one just like it!

I don’t know if I could add one more blog to the long list I already follow, but, we’ll see.

    Take care!,
    Barbara

  17. So I just read your guest room rug post and of course I went immediately to Mohawk to enter the giveaway. But I also wanted to leave a comment, so I just clicked down here to Monday’s post to say hello and to relate the amazing fact that my guest room windows look out over the roof above my front porch, too! And of course I also have three boys. We have the added bonus of that part of the roof being old copper, so footprints on it show really well. It’s lovely. As you say, classy! :)

    Love you, girl!

  18. Yep, been on a bit of an unintended blogging break, too… But that pillow? Just awesome – that quote is going somewhere in my house TODAY!
