I want to welcome beautiful things into my home that are versatile. Which can be tricky this time of year with all the beautiful Christmas items. But, I’ve realized that those one trick ponies, like the huge over-sized Christmas wreath that can barely fit in the car, are pretty for 4 weeks and a nuisance for the other 48 weeks.
I want to be more intentional with how I use things.
So, I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce you to our newest sponsor, Kristi from Willow House and show you how you can incorporate some of her items into your home all year around. By the end of this post we’ll have a chance for you to win some cute things, an enticing discount, and great ideas that you can implement whether you order 3 of everything from Willow House or nothing at all.
One of the most interesting and useful items you need in your home are containers. They can come in all different shapes and sizes and styles. Here are some ideas from Willow House {by the way, if you were a Southern Living at Home fan and are mourning the loss, time to get your party clothes out again because Willow House is kind of like SLAH’s younger, more fun sister. You’ll probably recognize a few things since they are related.}
These containers are all really beautiful and really useful.
1. The Lady Jane bottleneck vases are perfect to hold a single sprig or branch, they would look pretty grouped with other blue and green glass and are perfect for when you need to add height and interest to an area. Then every season, you can change what is on the branch {spring, hang some eggs or a nest/summer, make some tissue paper flowers/fall, attach a black bird or some dried leaves, winter, hang some snowflakes}
2. That red pedestal planter is a nice way to raise up some low plants. I think succulents would be pretty planted in there. Or fill it with nuts and a miniature Christmas tree? Or cash. Yeah, I think if you filled it with cash that would be a big hit.
3. I’m in LOVE with this Santorini bowl. Remember when we talked about how Pottery Barn made great use of low, wide bowls? You will be thrilled to know that as I write this post {yesterday} that this bowl is on sale from $64.95 to $18.96. Impressive. And I might just have to copy the citrus with ribbon and upholstery tacks that they have displayed in the bowl. Or you could fill it with nuts in the shell and throw the remotes on top for a casual coffee table piece. Or you could serve a salad in it.
4. Glass dome or cloche. This is a trick that works every time. Put something, anything under a cloche and it automagiacally turns it into something beautiful. Old torn photo? Put it under a cloche. Weeds from your yard? Put it under a cloche. Crumpled up toilet paper? Put it under a cloche. Just change whatever you have every season and you’ll feel like a seasonal decorator.
Here’s the French Wire Tiered Stand that Kristi sent me to play with in my nest. She said it was their best seller. I was surprised how big and hefty it was. And, talk about versatile. You can use the baskets separately or in random order or flip them to create cupcake stands. It’s actually kind of fun to play with…
Now I understand why it’s a best seller. I used it for smore’s, and then placed it in the family room, then the living room, then my office. It’s a sweet way to display a collection of small seasonal items.
By the way, I’m addicted to mixing seasons, nests and birds with pumpkins. For some reason, they seem to work for me.

Birds are good any time of year!
I have the Jamestown round tray(I hope that is the name) that I decorate every season/holiday. It’s so fun and the kids love it!
I have a line of glass votive holders that I line up in my kitchen window. For each season, I change out the candles to match the theme of the season. Love that French Wire Tiered stand – I have been looking for something like that!
I use my apothecary jars each season. Finding new ways, and places to decorate them up is such fun and makes me happy about the small little changes here and there! LOVE the wire basket!!! =)
I use a big serving bowl on our kitchen island and fill it with different things for each season. Glad I saw this post – I just looked at Willow House yesterday!
I need help in this decorating department but I do have a few glass containers that I switch up right now they are holding acorns, this past summer they had beach rocks. I would LOVE that french wire tiered stand and that red planter would be perfect in my livingroom!
I love my glass hurricane. It’s filled with Indian corn right now, but it also houses Christmas ornaments, a large candle, colored eggs, flowers, or sand & sea shells at other times of the year. The possibilities are endless.
Lady Jane bottleneck vases! could these be any more perfect…
I have a metal basket on the floor that I fill with different things. Right now it has some pumpkin pillows and I see some hot wheel cars. I think I know who added those!
What a fabulous giveaway! I have a three tiered wooden piece that I just love to decorate for all the different seasons…but I am in love with the French Wire Tiered Stand – apparently I have a thing for all things tiered!
Chelsea
I love using apothecary jars for decorating! I change them with the seasons….leaves, nuts, pinecones and pumpkins for fall, ornaments for Christmas, eggs for Easter, etc. Thanks for the chance to win!!
Being a military wife and moving a lot, I love the idea of multi-purpose decorations. I can’t think of a piece that I re-purpose every season, BUT I use cake plates every chance I get when I am entertaining or just because. It is amazing how elevating something or putting a glass dome over it makes it look so much more appetizing. I would totally love the tiered basket or the Adair up-side down cake dome. I can hear my husband now, “ANOTHER cake plate?!?!”
I use glass vases on my dining room table and switch them out for every season. I love that tiered stand, it is beautiful and exactly what I’ve been looking for as a lovely fruit stand in my kitchen:}
I’ve got a big teal green hand-thrown pottery bowl that gets used all year. Sometimes fruit, sometimes an orchid in a pot, sometimes seashells. Doesn’t matter. Anything in it looks great.
And speaking of great – that Wired Tiered Stand is AWESOME! Love that it comes apart and can be used upside down as well. Off to check out the website – thanks for sharing!
I have a stand similar to that but it is not wired. I use it all year on the kitchen table, but I don’t think it always looks that cute! I use it as an Advent wreath/set-up at Christmas, that is my fave part about it.
A large wooden bowl–it tends to get different things in it and gets moved from room to room. I also have a cloche that pretty much stays in one spot but gets its contents changed seasonally. I love the big glass containers you showcased from Willow House!
I Have a blue/green rustic vase from Anthropology and it works with reds, oranges, pinks etc… any holiday flower combination for the table just pops.
That french wire tiered stand would work wonders in ANY room in my house! Thanks for a great giveaway!
I have tiered candle stands that I use in all seasons with different toppers…sometimes candles, sometimes christmas decorations etc.
Almost all of my decor is used for every season. I, sadly, don’t have the money or the space for things that can only be used a few weeks of the year. I have a few glass, wood, or mettle items that I dress up for each season. Its amazing how a sprig of pine or a gourd can change almost any item into seasonal decor.
I don’t have an item, but if I did it would be a bell jar! I heart those so much.
i have a massive coffee table that holds artbooks and mercury glass candlesticks year round. but it has so much room it gets accessorized seasonally with a wooden bowl of pistachios, crystal bowl of christmas candy, spring green vase of forced bulbs, and for summer the goldfish bowl comes to the table. love my 5′ x 5′ table, handed down from mom-in-law :)
Speaking of Southern Living at home….I use my dress me up plate for every season!!
I would use those ladyjane bottleneck vases ALL THE TIME!!! They are fantastic!
I love my oversized branches that I gathered off our neighborhood bike path one day while running after a rainstorm. I’ve thrown them in a galvanized tin can I spray painted Heirloom White. They look great just plain, but during Christmas I have little mini glass ball ornaments to hang from them!
I have my eye on the Tiered Stand. I have been needing something like that forever!!!!
Eggs!!! Weird, I know, but I love eggs. I’m obssessed with them right now. Especially in nests! :)
I use my glass hurricanes each and every season. They are so fun!
Wow that french wire tiered basket is a MUST!
I love anything tiered, but I think I really like the idea of the pedestal bowl. I definitely don’t do enough seasonal change outs. I do have one big apothacary jar that has shells in it… it will be filled with Christmas balls in a few weeks. Blessings!
i have a vase from the dollar store (i’m poor, please let me win!) that i fill with seasonal items. colorful potpourri that goes with the season, pine cones, sea glass or shells, candy corn for halloween. not sure what i will put in there for the winter holidays.
Love that tiered wire tray and it would look so good on my studio desk…it would collect all the odds and ends as I’m creating…would be a lovely embroidery basket ;) For my kitchen I have a two tiered plate rack and it is serving now as my tea caddy. I’ve used it in the guest bath before for as a guest tray with soaps and toiletries for our seasonal guests, etc. It’s one of my favorite ways to decorate in style: http://con-tain-it.typepad.com/my_weblog/5-plate-racks.html
would love to win this giveaway and find a new plate rack like your wire one ;)
Fondly, Roberta
I have an enameled bowl that I use for seasonal items.
I have an old cream colored platter that once had gold filigree trim. The trim is mostly rubbed off meaning it was well used in its day. I use it one the wall, on shelves, as the center of whatever I can find. It’s one of those things in my home that is just always there. Also have two oil lamps that get well used when the electricity goes out so they are a handy and important bit of decor in my 129 yr old home.
I have a medium-sized black urn. It has a pumpkin covered with little orange and black flowers on it right now. Other times it holds a globe or a container of wheat grass with a moss bunny or whatever hits my fancy.
I have an antique wooden potato cart that I bought in Germany when my husband and I were stationed there in the Air Force eight years ago. It’s about 100 years old and looks great filled with Christmas presents, pumpkins and gourds, flowers, houseplants, birthday presents and on and on. I love its versitility for seasonal decorating and the memory it conjures up of our time in Europe!
Love that Willow House Catalog!
I have a brown metal accent dish that actually came from Southern Living Home several years ago. I use it as the base for several different center pieces in different seasons.
I have a silver bowl thingy that I change up the decor in. I use it year round put anything from shells to white christmas lights in it.
I don’t really have anything that goes through all of the seasons, except my furniture…..does that count? :) I would love to have that 3 tiered basket! I have been wanting a really pretty one for a long time!
I love to use inexpensive chargers–under candles, vases, pretty bowls–I have a favorite red one that I can use at Christmas, Valentines, patriotic holidays–even some fall arrangements, depending on what I put on it/with it.
LOVE the wired tier stand!
I could really use anything from Willow House to decorate, but I’ll start with the Trilogy Mirrors or the large Lady Jane Bottleneck vase.
I have been on the lookout for a tiered wire basket exactly like that one! I’m heading over to her site to check it out!
What a great post! I’m so guilty of one- trick pony decorating. I’m really going to start thinking about table top decor in a new way. I would be thrilled to win any of the items you mentioned, but I really love the lady jane vases and the cloche.
I have loved SLAH’s items for years and I love that tiered basket! I would love to get one!
I have a cute cream pedestal that looks great with something seasonal on top.
I love the tiered stand! I have a Pottery Barn metal caddy that I use all the time. Sometimes it holds my vintage milk bottles with a rose. It’s great for holding flatware or small pots filled with herbs. It’s even pictured in my blogs’s header.
Does my mantle count? Because that is the only thing I decorate in every season! I’m loving the tiered stand here though!
I have a wire basket from SLAH. I use it in my bathroom to store towels. I have used it for plates ,napkins , and utensils during parties. It has been used in every room of my house. It is also great for holiday decorating a little greenery liner and I put ornaments in it for a centerpiece.
love the 3 tiered wire basket. so much i could do with it!
