Nesting Place the blog turned 3 on Sunday. I’m not sure what to say about that except to thank you for reading and commenting and encouraging me. I enjoy this blog and the community more every year. I love this place.
And, I thought I’d give you a little preview of things to come.
We’ll be talking about some simple Thanksgiving pretties and looking at lovely tables, I’ve even got a Thanksgiving and a Christmas edition of Pottery Barn Hacks already written up.
November 15th we are going to try a new kind of Giveaway Day featuring giveaways only from Nesting Place sponsors, it’s sure to be a fun filled day of entering to win some really cute loot.
December 13th is the 2nd Annual Christmas Tour of Homes. Mark it down on your calendar. Or not, because I’ll probably remind you about it so much that you will wish you could forget.
Also we have some giveaways from Pier 1 Imports, DaySpring, Holiday with Matthew Mead, Simple Mom and others, coffee filter crafts, no stress Christmas decorating and of course some nonsensical rambling and bird watching.
Is there any topic you want to talk abut here at Nesting Place over the next two months?

Are those your boots? Love em! I’ve worn mine out and haven’t found a suitable replacement….So glad to have found your blog! At first, I thought you were gonna say you were calling it quits! I finally took a breath, and then got excited about what’s coming up. Looking forward to the next two months for sure!
That Christmas button is so pretty, I want to hang it in my house! :-)
Congrats on your 3-year blogging birthday. That’s, like, 30 in blogging years, isn’t it? Your blog was one of the first I found after I started mine, and I’ve been a devoted reader ever since. Looking forward to all you have planned in coming months!
yes, it’s totally like 30 in blogging years.
Happy Blog Birthday Nester! I love your blog; it is the only one that I make time to read every day. Thanks for the inspiration, and pretty pictures to look at. You rock.
Angie
If you could teach me how to decorate for and survive the holiday season with a 4 yr old, a 16 mo. old, and a baby due any time now, I would be forever indebted. :) It will be a miracle if a) there is a Christmas tree in my house this year and b) if that tree survives the 16 month old’s curious inquisitions. :)
Congrats! I personally love any kind of diy gift ideas.

Happy 3rd birthday!
I just love your site! I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us!
Your blog is so refreshing and creative. So glad that Edie from lifeingrace introduced me to your site. I’d love to see ideas for Christmas gifts for families where you give just one gift for the whole family to enjoy. I’ve always done magazine subscriptions but am looking for something new. Thank you!
I’m so excited to see the Christmas Tour of Homes…always looking for ideas! And I second the DIY Christmas gift ideas or any other ideas on how to save a buck this Christmas! :)
Thanks!
Hi Nester,
I love your site! I’m traveling to the beach with my family for thanksgiving, so I would love to see ideas about decorating a table with commonly-found items. I’ll be decorating our table with things I can find once I get to the beach (in the Florida pan-handle) since I’m flying there. I don’t want to spend too much money, but I want it to look pretty and home-y for my family, since we won’t be at home.
Thanks so much! I love your blog!
I would love to know your organization tips for kids papers from school…what to do with the keepers. We get overrun! I guess I should have asked a few weeks earlier…
I just love reading your blog! You’ve given me so many great ideas for decorating my home. I can’t wait for the Christmas Tour of Homes!
Whatever you wanna post … just glad to have you back from your one day vacation. I just started reading your blog last month and I am completely addicted. Pretty sure I was hyperventilating a little when you didn’t post yesterday. ;)
It all sounds great! Can’t wait to read!
Looking forward to it all! Hosting Christmas at my house this year for the first time, so any simple tips / tricks for setting a pretty table would be awesome :)
Congrats on 3 years. I have been with ya most of that time. Love , love, your blog. Hey, when I try to click on the link for Nesting Place in Dayspring Catalog, there is an “internal error”. Any hints?
Christmas trees! I want to know how to decorate my Christmas tree! How much stuff to use…What and how do you make a topper? Ribbons? How? I need help!
Congratulations, Nester. Boy, am I ever glad you decided to start this blog back in 2007. I’m really proud of your success. You’re the best!
I would love to get your ideas about how to display my children’s art. I don’t want to always put it in a file but actually add it into my decor somehow. I’d also love to hear about some ideas for Christmas tree decorating!!
Congrats on your anniversary! I just discovered your blog about 6 weeks ago and it’s become one I visit daily! Thanks!!
Ok, you are my new favorite blog to visit first thing every morning! Love your sensibility and style (and thriftyness, and…)!
Congrats on three years of blogging, Nester!! It is always a treat to visit you. The Christmas tour of homes sounds like fun and you can count me in. I am always up to entering a good giveaway too.
xoxo,
Sherry
Love your white ice skates!
God blessed me with a pair for decorating 2 weeks ago!
I blogged about it.
$3.
So, so, fun!
Can’t wait for your holiday posts! (Especially the PB hacks!)
So exciting! Thanks!
Congrats on your 3-year blogging birthday Nester!! It has been a joy reading your posts!!
Just introduced my non-blogger friend to you. She was excited. Maybe she will blog now;)
My husband and I were just talking about our Christmas budget not only for decorating but also for the family. We are a no credit card at Christmas family. This may be a good topic?
As far as decorating the Thanksgiving table I am looking forward to your post. The back yard tree branches with beautiful leaves have served their purpose. Thinking maybe we could have a new look this year. Nothing fancy, just simple. We have a one family member who moves it off the table each year. They say it gets in the way. Who knows why They are not natural at decorating. Maybe it interferes with desert lol
You always cover everything I need to learn and then some, so I can’t think of any suggestions. But I will say that I love you and that brilliant mind of yours. Like, a whole lot. :)
Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary!!!! I am so blessed to have found your blog. Thank you for all that you offer. Here’s to the next year, and many more!!!
Oh, what fun is to come! Congrats on the big 3! I began reading alon with you just after I started my non family blog back in spring of 2008.
Thanks for sharing all your wisdom with us decorationally challenged. I know what I like when I see it, I just don’t always know how to achieve it, and I get overwhelmed with how far my space has to go to get that particular look. For this reason,
I think your “Home Wasn’t Built in a Day” is one of my all time favorite NP posts.
Cheers!

Happy anniversary! Your blog has been, and continues to be, one of my most favorite places on the internet. Thanks for 3 years of inspiration.
Happy 3rd Anniversary! I just found you last winter and I’m so thankful I did!! I’m looking forward to the hacking Pottery Barn & Christmas Tour. I really appreciate your honesty, talent and your heart.
Nester,
I am so thankful for your blog…a dear friend from from NC told me about it, and when I told my Texas pals about my new favorite blog, they were already FANS of yours—hello??? Ladies??? Keep me in the loop!! ;)
We moved into a rental house after my husband was laid off–it is brown from floor to ceiling–I have hated every inch of it, but your blog has helped me gain perspective and start moving in a happier direction.
God. Bless. Your. Efforts. :)
Jamison
Congrats on 3 years!
First of all, thank you for this blog. I only discovered it this summer and I think it was a definite nudge from God. That morning I had hopped on the scale, and after seeing the same stupid number I immediately was discontent with life – my hips were still too big, the bathroom was ugly, on and on. The phrase “You can still drink from a chipped cup” popped into my head. I reminded myself that God can use me even if I’m fat. And then I found NP – and God used you to remind me that He can make our imperfect house into a loving, nurturing home just the way it is. Things have been a lot more peaceful since I decided to rest in that truth. Thank you for being you and providing this message.
I don’t have any great suggestions for future topics, but I’d love to see the IDHTBPTBB ebook sometime – it’s been down since I found you.
Really I just found your blog today! I can’t believe you have been doing this for 3 years and just today I stumbled upon all your goodness! I am totally addicted…sucked in from the second I saw it. Thanks for being REAL, sharing your God given talent with all of us and showing us all life doesn’t have to be expensive to be beautiful. I love you already and can’t wait to read your blog everyday. I look forward to all of your upcoming posts.
Love the boots!!!!
Decorating a small space – I live in a 1250 s.f. apartment…..
Help!
Wow! Has it really been 3 years? You’re the reason I started blogging! [raising my glass] Here’s to many more wonderful blog posts!
Love those boosts in the top pic
living in small spaces
color theory
christmas decorating for kids
gift ideas, homemade or otherwise
home remedies for household cleaning
holiday party hosting basics
ps I got the nerve to paint something the other day, a bright turquoise actually which is a stretch for me, and all the while kept repeating, “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful …” thanks for the inspiration!! it turned out great (but not perfect of course)!
Congratulations on 3 years! I REALLY want to know if you just plop down some dropcloths and go to town on large furniture. My husand travels quite a bit for his job and the idea of moving a huge piece of furniture out of the room just to paint seems like too much for me. My kids are now all in school so I’ve got my days to myself. HA! That’s a huge joke because this stay at home mom is rarely home! I do, however, have some days next week that will remain open so I can continue on my projects. Do I dare just start painting while it’s in the house!?!? Help me, please.
Sorry–should read “husband”. I’m typing too fast.
Happy 3rd Birthday!! I’m really looking forward to your holiday inspirations!!
Decorating with littles.
Example: I would love to have a bowl filled with rocks in the middle of my glass coffee table but with a two year old boy that ain’t gunna happens. How do you do what you do with THREE boys and manage to keep all your glass, birds, and random pretties in one piece?
Also, I know this isn’t decorating really, but I would love to see your daily schedule and a little blurb about homeschooling. How do you find time to move 15 large pieces of furniture and how does ‘moming’ fit in with the ‘nesting.’ I learning to love the nest but when I get in the mode it takes a long time!
I wish I “met” you three years ago. I’m still doing my same things 5 years later. Hoping to hang that picture, wanting to paint, praying for grace and still livin with the jelly stickiness on the door knobs. I have my 9 year old boy I homeschool and my 10 year old daughter in school … how do you clean, decorate and organize? Im so in need of finding that out. Im a wild woman when a mess abounds and we just added another dog to the picture whos attacking the cat that runs from our old dog and hopes for the fish … im a wanna be.
Happy 3rd birthday–now why can’t my 3yo be as well-behaved as your blog? :) Here’s to many more!
Enjoyed your 31-days series. Love the basket of lunch fixin’s in the fridge.
And, thank you that it isn’t ‘Holiday Tour’ of homes. Maybe I’ll have my junk together and participate in the fun.
Wow! They had blogs back then?!?! :) That is seriously awesome- congratulations veteran! You’ve paved the way!
