Canvas meets hot glue meets burlap meets hot glue meets broken frame meets hot glue meets old spoon.
I like the texture and dimension that the nubby burlap and thick frame give my old canvas. The possibilities are endless.
Do you have some parts around your house that could be married together to make something beautiful?

This is a simple idea, but adds so much to improve the overall scale. Thanks so much for posting this.
What a super cute idea, this is definitely on my project list!
I love it, Nester! The mix of textures is perfect. :) What a nice little spot! Gives me some ideas for the dining room I may or may not get around to making over. ;)
Fun & easy idea – I might do this today!
The great thing about this project is that even though blank canvasses are expensive at the craft store, they’re super cheap at the Goodwill store.
Once again you’ve turned simple into wow.
LOVE this!!! You always inspire and amaze me.
Cheers~

Love it! I love the textures and the depth the multiple pieces add.
Cute and creative idea. Question: What is that lovely fabric called on that pillow below the canvas? I love it!
Precious! I love it!! I painted a great find..table, chairs and Hutch this same color and I love it!! Thanks for always bringing great ideas!!
I Love this!! What a great idea, I’m totally going to steal it!
seriously, N…..is there anything you touch that doesn’t turn out beautifully???
heart.you.
Hi Nester, love the burlap pic. I did the same thing, but I lined the edges of the canvas with tacks that looked old. Got them at Wally World. Just adds a little extra layer. Love Ya…
Love the layers! What size canvas did you use?
Love it! You inspire me :) Thanks!
Love, love, love…want to try this!
I love the burlap idea. I have a few ideas up my sleeve. I am working on a big collage for my living room wall and I love new ideas!
What a wonderful idea!
Oh Nester! I love it & YES! I have stuff that should be married & made whole together. :) Thanks for the inspiration!
What a great idea! I used lots of burlap in a baby shower I just hosted (photos on my blog!), and this would be a really fun way to use the leftovers. Thanks for the idea!
you make something out of nothing. i love that so much i want to jump up and down and shout YES! to the world. xoxox
stinkin’ cute as ever! i have lots of junk that could be married. thanks for the inspiration!
Great idea! I might just have to try this :) Too cute, thanks for sharing.
Very, very cute! If you had just hung the blue frame it would have been lost on this wall. Adding the burlap was a great idea.
Hugs, Sherry
So cute!
love, love, love it.
I love the combination of textures and colors! So creative! I also REALLY like that pillow! Where did you get it?
Great idea! I just bought a roll of burlap last week at the thrift store and can add this idea to the possibilities for its use! :-) Thanks for sharing!
AWESOME!! I just found some paint canvases (canvsii?) for free at a yard sale. I had thought of repainting them, but this is wonderful too. Thanks!
Cute! I love how simple this is but it creates a big impact. I’m going to scour my house tonight to see what random items I can put together to create something beautiful. I do have tons of burlap sacks left over-hmmm. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love this! It’s perfectly cute and simple. love it!
This is gorgeous!
I just ADORE the way you combine rustic elements with elegance to create a beautiful and meaningful space.
Your blog is my favorite spot on the web!
Kelly, ‘rustic’ is one of my favorite words right now to describe my house–so glad you thought the same!
I can’t beleive it gives such an amazing effect
Very Creative!!!
This is extremely cute!
I have a canvas in my car which is packed with stuff on the way to goodwill. Excuse me while I run and get it out :-))))))
Oh, I just love this! The brown of the burlap and the blue paint look wonderful together. I have a set of vintage mini tartlet pans that I’ve been trying to figure out how to display, and they would be great framed this way. You also reminded me with the burlap that I want to figure out how to make my own version of Pottery Barn’s burlap sack advent calendar. Time to get cracking on that! :-)
…..meets genius! You are good!
ps: went away this weekend with Karen B., you know the Karen B. that we both know!?! We went to Lucketts, ummm…its pretty much the equivalence of the Promise Land. You would have loved it :).
I love, love, love this! I will be trying this over the weekend. Thanks for sharing another great idea~!
Oh my gosh I l ove it! I did something similar with some canvases I had hanging around the house! I love the frame idea.
Awesome. LOVE it. Bookmarked and definitely will be made in this house!
Hi, Nester! I loved your 31 Days, ADORE your blog (and your style), and think you are fabulous. Really. I recently bought my first house and am SO GLAD I found you and your motto, which I have repeated to myself more than once over the past few months. In fact, I am quite eager to read your e-book…. I’ve been checking weekly for a few months now, but as you know, it still reads “temporarily unavailable.” PLEASE know I don’t mean to pester the nester (hee hee, I’m a poet), but I’m wondering if you have an updated target date for re-publishing?
Thank you SO MUCH for what you do. Now I’m off to buy a fantastic dresser for my dining room from Craig’s List…
Very nice idea! I love projects like this, when I just walk around the house…looking at things and how I can use them in new ways. Some of my favorite creations bloom out of those times.
I love your style! You can make something beautiful out of nothing. You are my design inspiration for sure :)
You are so stinkin’ creative!
Still totally dislike the antelope head, but this is awesome and I adore it! This is so much more the nester we all know and love. You are so creative! I’m going to be a copy cat on this project! =)
your post title totally reminded me of this group from the late 90′s…. Burlap top cashmere!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjHT0ZceuSU
maybe that could be your next inspiration- putting something burlap with something cashmere??
I do love the look and texture of your project!!
p.s. dying to see who won the tiered wire stand!! (ok- not dying- but you get it!!)
I have a question… I just “found” a canvas someone was giving away, and I’m wondering whether it would work for me to paint over the existing pictures? will acrylic paints work? Or do I have to re-cover it?
You are the queen of taking little bits of nothin’ and turning them into a great big glorious somethin’! What a great way to turn one little frame into a nice big art piece!
