I’m anticipating a cool fall.
I love warm rusty reds, golden yellows and the perfect pumpkin shade of orange that doesn’t look plasticy as much as the next fall loving girl but this year I thought I’d play around with cooler fall colors. My goal is to keep our home feeling warm and cozy while still showcasing my blues greens and grays. It’s a fun challenge. And I’m still tweaking it. And it already looks different from what you see in these photos.
I’m autoposting this tonight and I haven’t done that in awhile, so just in case you are reading this post and the linky thing for you to link up doesn’t show, please come back first thing in the morning and I’ll have it up. Now go ahead and link up to your post about your fall mantel. Can’t wait to see them all.
While you area at it, if you want to show off the rest of the fall around home, Julia at Hooked on Houses is hosting a Fall Decorating Party.
Special thanks to @decorchic and @FOTFBlog for calling it a “fantel party” I will never be able to say the words “fall mantel” again.

:)
Fantel fantel all around.
Must. find. blue. pumpkin…
Beautifully simple! I love that pumpkin in the middle especially. Good luck with your yard sale this weekend! You may have to call in security to deal with the masses :) Can’t wait to hear the details. Happy fall~
Absolutely beautiful! I used cooler colors for my living room too, and I have to say I really love then for fall. Now I just need some blue pumpkins..
Your mantle is so beautiful! I love the colors!! Thanks for the fantle party. So fun!!
xoxo
Love the colors on your mantel! Gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing what everyone’s got to show us.
Thanks for hosting this fun party–and for the shout-out you gave about my party, too! :)
Love the Fantel name, and I so love your mantel!! I have been feeling that I would like to add some more subtle, even pastel tones to my fall decor – and you hit it out of the park! Great idea, and it looks beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing it!
I love your pumpkins! And the cooler colors are gorgeous. Thanks for the mantel party!
Great idea Nester, so proud to link up ! Your home and mantel looks lovely as always.

I really love your mantel. Not too much. Just right.
Ahhh, I love the colors, especially the blue pumpkin. So pretty!
How pretty. I need some pumpkins. I think I’ll go check the at the produce stand tomorrow to see if they have any cool blue ones like yours.
Lovin’ your cool fall colors…very cool!
I’d love to join in but it’s spring here in Australia.
Is that a Queensland blue pumpkin on your mantel? It’s funny, I’d never seen an orange pumpkin until I started reading American blogs. The ones we eat here are usually grey-ish blue or the brownish butternut squash. Ad we tend to eat pumpkins as a vegetable, not in desserts (although I have tasted delicious pumpkin scones).
Anyhow, I love your mantel and your use of cooler colours.
Kate
Wow – I can’t wait to visit some of these mantels; they all look terrific!
I love the touch of turquoise that you added to your mantel. I’m really looking forward to adding pumpkins and gourds to my mantel. I love the look that you created. Thanks for hosting the party!
Your mantle is beautiful! I adore these cooler colors – I haven’t seen anything but orange pumpkins where I live this year. I’ll have to keep my eyes open.
Oh my….
Just seeing all the thumbnail photos (where everyone linked up) makes me salivate… I feel like I’m thumbing through a magazine. ;)
Ya’ll decorate so amazingly.
Very inspiring. Very Cool.
Love those gorgeous pumpkins, Miss Nester! Thank you so much for hosting! :)
So many great ideas, love the muted shades of your pumpkins, really appeals to me! I have yet to do one ounce of decorating for the fall, or Halloween, but I’m getting inspired here…Janell
Thanks so much for the inspiration! I have blues and grays in my house too and I needed something other than oranges, greens, and rusts this year…a great job as always!
Love the pumpkins on the mantel! I really like the different colors and shapes of pumpkins. I have a gray/green pumpkin sitting on my front porch already and I’m planning to get more. :)
Hey girl! Your mantel looks wonderful. I do so love that portrait of the five of y’all. And your pile of “cool” gourds is just right for fall.
I’m kind of embarrassed at the poor quality of the photos in my post, but I’m linking up anyway–I wouldn’t want to miss a party at your place. Thank you so much for hosting! It’s such a treat to be here.
Love you!
i’m calling mine a “hantle” because i really only have my half moon hall table to decorate like a mantle. so there you go, fantles and hantles. thanks for hosting this. i can’t WAIT to visit these great linkups!
Your mantel is goregous, makes me a bit nervous to link up… it’ll be my first time! Thanks & Happy Fall!
I love the simplicity of your Mantle! Gorgeous!
Thanks for hosting!

love your mantle—it was so inspiring to me this morning because i felt like mine was so simple and uninspiring. the gnarly pumpkin did the trick!

edie
Love how you carried out your color scheme!
Love your pumpkins….I am dying over the colors!
Beautiful mantel Nester! Shouldn’t you have a big S Mrs. Smith instead of an M? hehe. ;)
A quick question — did you buy or make or have made the white slipcover on your wing chair that appears on the righthand side of the second picture from the top? I am looking for something exactly like that!
Thanks!
Thanks for hosting this fun party! I love the mantle – where on earth did you find that beautiful blue-grey pumpkin?!
farmers market, they have ZILLIONS of wonderful kins!
I love your unexpected and non-traditional colors! It fits perfectly with the rest of your room, but still welcomes the season! That takes talent!
I love those colors on your mantel! I’ve been so tempted by the blue/gray/green gourds. Guess I should give in and get one! I’ve been trying to find the whole mixed nuts like you showed in a previous post. Did you get yours this season or do you buy them at Christmas and save them for the next year?
Thanks for hosting this!
Thanks for hosting this fun “fantel” party…I have enjoyed visiting all the blogs for fall time!! :)
I could use Emily’s help in my “den”. It’s the first room you see when you walk in the house, it’s very open. Right now it’s a mixture of home office, playroom and a place for unwanted furniture. I know the room has potential, I just don’t know how to get there.
Wow! My first Fantel party…Ever! This is so much fun. Thank you for hosting and inspiring!
Sigh…I wish I had a mantel. They all look so pretty! And I wish it was under 100 degrees, so I could start thinking about fall. Hard to do that when your sweating to death.
My fave is The V Spot with the white pumpkins, mercury glass, berry thingy, candles and empty frame. Some of my favorite things and not overly too many things.

Love your mantel! I totally need one of those blue pumpkins! Man I wish I had my decor together for fall…I’m working on it! Thanks for hosting this for inspiration!
I looked through every mantel in your hop and no one has a window behind their fireplace! I have no idea what to do with my mantle because it has this big ol’ window behind it. I’m going to post my mantle, not because I like how it’s decorated, but I’m hoping for some HELP!
I love your pumpkins. The whole look is gorgeous :) :)
you ALWAYS inspire me….I am floored how you can create a “fall” with cool colors. You most definitely rock.
:)
Cheers~

I love your unique mantle display!! I’ll be keeping an eye out for funky pumpkins in my area.
Thanks for hosting such a fun party!

THANK YOU!!! This might be one of my most favorite blog posts ever. So much inspiration shared. Thanks a million!
I just wanted to thank you for being my fall inspiration!! My house is done in Blues/Greens/Chocolate and Cream….so I can never EVER decorate for fall…there is no red/orange/yellow in my house to speak of. Even for Christmas I do the Blue/Silver color scheme. The mantel you did was the perfect mix of colors that would work in my house!! Now I just gotta go out and find things like it…hmmm…
Thanks!!!!
Have you heard of Scentsy Wickless Candle Warmers?? Check out my website…I think you might be interested. No Flame, No Black Marks on your ceilings, No Burning your house down if you forget to turn it off, Safe for Kids & Pets!! Great for a home, office, classroom, pretty much anywhere!!
Thanks for showing how you stay true to your color palette while still celebrating/showcasing the seasons. You and I have pretty much the same colors in our home, so this is SUPER helpful for me to see! :-)
