A Lesson in Texture, Color and Pattern

, Jen from Tatertots & Jello is such an inspiration.  Her creativity and use of color and pattern are enviable.  I remember I fell in love with her after I saw this photo and tutorial.
I wanted to share a few projects created by Jen.   When you stop by Tatertots & Jello you will see that it is very organized and every week she does fantastic features of other bloggers.  You can see lots of her most popular projects on her sidebar and click the photos to find out how to make them for yourself.
This project is creepily charming.
And have you seen her updated laundry room?
Jen is a master at combining texture, pattern and color~and her photos prompt me to add extra texture, pattern and color in my own home.

  1. Wonderful guest post! I love Jen’s blog. I am not crafty, so all I get is envious when I see her tutorials. I adore her craft room/office, especially the work surface and the way there is room for everyone to sit. Genius!

  2. One of my favorite bloggers! She is so kind and always uses her blog to promote other blogs. LOVE that laundry room, Jen!
    Love,

  3. I’d like to add that along with being wonderfully creative, Jen is also super nice. I fell in love with her laundry room re-do and asked her a few questions about the board and batten treatment. She answered all of my questions right away and was super helpful!

  8. Some cute stuff! You both have beautiful homes to work with! I need to find that red wreath. Did she do that with paper muffin cups? Adorable! The green in her rooms is the same green my oldest son picked when we moved into our home. We told him if he decided he hated it, we’d camo it for him but he loves it. You never know with teens :) Thanks for sharing!

  9. i think jen has to be one of the nicest bloggers around. i agree with EVERYTHING that was said in the above comments. she promotes so many other blogs on her website it is always full of inspiration.

  19. I love that crazy, fun “dining room” AFTER. I wish more people would take the leap to turn a room they aren’t using (for the use intended) and re-imagine it as something they will use and love everyday. You can always change it back when you have to stage it to sell. Nicely done :)

  20. How fun! I love the colors and want to go look to get more inspiration. I use our formal living room and dining room as my workshop, so I love what she did! Blessings!

  21. you guys are so impressive – and you both make it look easy!!

  22. love her blog, want to find out where the desks came from, probably Ikea, which we don’t have!

  23. I love both of you. Seriously…you both in one place?!? Well, you made my day! ♥

  24. Jen is fabulous, but I think she might be an alien or a robot, because it is not normal to be that talented, gorgeous, efficient and nice… all in one package.

  25. I love Jen, she spotlighted me, a new blogger this summer and it was so exciting for me! :) She is so creative and has a great sense of color. I have to know where she got all of that furniture for the craft room. It is beautiful and certainly nurture’s those creative juices!!!

  26. I LOVE Jen!! She’s not only SUPER talented, she is just as sweet as she can be!
It was so much fun seeing her ideas again!

  29. I so agree with Vivienne! Jen is a super woman, it boggles my mind how she tweets, facebooks, tutorials and responds personally to all the people who visit her blog. And her weekend party roundup is filled with so much inspiration from other bloggers, it takes up my whole weekend browsing the links :) She is the best.

  30. ok……..all you UBER talented ladies just blow my mind!!! Love you both!!

  31. I couldn’t bring her photos up…yours came up fine. Guess I’;ll go over and see if I can see some of these rooms.

    • were you able to make it work? i am having the same problem and really want to see the dining/craft room pictures. thanks!

  32. I was going to march straight on to say how amazingly sweet Miss Tatertot Jen is….and I was apparently beat to it….about 10,000 times. But, one can rarely hear “you’re amazing” too much, so I’ll say it again……JEN IS AMAZING. She is super talented, has an amazing eye, makes amazing stuff….and spends hours and hours promoting other bloggers! Plus…she is the NICEST lady around. I’ve loved getting to know her, and she deserves every word of praise she gets. (plus…..how amazing is her house? Seriously)

  33. I’d love to see Jen’s color coordinating… but everything between the first picture and the halloween pennant pillows is coming up blank…. is it firefox?

  34. HELP! I can’t view the pictures of the before/after dining room. Anyone else having this problem. I really want to see the pix b/c I am planning to do the same with my (unused) dining room!!
