I forgot to tell you, every lamp I talked about and showed you in yesterday’s post was from TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Even the lantern. Even the thrift store lamp had a tag on it from our local Marshalls/Home Goods. I figured out years ago that they always have the best selection of on trend, ever changing, good priced lamps of various shapes and sizes. And apparently, many of you have too according to the comment section.

I’m too cheap and lazy to have photoshop. But I do play around with photobucket. Here’s my family room. Everything in color, I bought at either TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Pillows, dishes, accessories, and of course, lamps.
Here’s how it looks if you aren’t a robot. And finally, FINALLY, TJ Maxx and Marshalls have decided to partner with Nesting Place and claim their rightful crown as my lamp go to store. Ok, so I wish they would have done this before I spent my own hard earned cash decorating my home but, it’s not like they can read the future. Plus, it’s not like I can’t always find something within 3.5 seconds of walking through the doors. Plus, I really didn’t spend all that much cash anyway, the prices are all so reasonable. So, I was thrilled that TJ Maxx and Marshalls sent me some giftcards, some for me to shop with, and some for you. {It’s about time TJ Maxx & Marshalls, I’ve been shopping with you for years, lets do this again sometime mkay?}
In my town, all the TJ Maxx and Marshalls have a Home Goods store attached to them. Meaning, the stores are one big store sometimes with two separate entrances but, when you go in the home section is called Home Goods. So I hope it’s not too confusing when I say Home Goods but really, it was TJ Maxx or Marshalls to most of you. And then, I have heard tell of Home Goods stores being all by their lonesome, without a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. But for me, when I say Home Goods, I usually mean, my TJ Maxx and Marshalls store that has a huge, HUGE home section within it called Home Goods. I’m glad we had that little talk and have that all cleared up.
Here are just a few of the beauties that I saw while at my local TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores. There was a sofa for $399, lots of uniquly shaped dishes that would look beautiful added to my wall of plates, rugs at super amazing prices and did I mention the lamps?
And because I apparently need a hobby, oh wait, this is my hobby, I took some photos of some of the items I’ve used in my home that are from the dynamic duo of TJ Maxx and Marshalls. My white dishes–I’ve collected them over time and whenever I’m at TJ Shalls? MarshMaxx? What can we call them for short? Anyway, whenever I’m there and see a white dish I love, especially if it’s a unique shape, I buy it. That number 3 up there was on sale for 1.99.
I’ve had this wire basket for years, I think I’ve used it in every room of my house. MarshMaxx. TJ Shalls.
I love this carved piece of wood that currently lives on our mantel. Again, had it for years, dropped it probably 31 times. I love that they have the “compare at” on the price tag. You can find things for 60% off the compare at price.
You know I have a weakness for accessories, and when I’m shopping, I follow my heart. This vase made me gasp. I grabbed it knowing I’d find a place somewhere. I don’t really have yellow in my house but I thought it would be fun to add a drop of color like that and the shape and the strips and $14.99! Plus, remember, I now had a gift card. This is one of the items I just purchased. When I see something that I immediately connect to and I have the cash for it and I LOVE it {doesn’t happen all the time because I’m picky} I buy it. I don’t worry at all about where I’ll put it. I figure when I get home I can make it work, that’s the fun part. And if for some reason I hate it in my house when I get home, I can just return it no harm done.
Glorious.
Awe inspiring.
I must be dreaming.
I found this little beauty pre gift card. I love it. I need another word for love. It was $12.99. I think you are supposed to put a plant in it but I like it with pretend eggs.
I just got this mirror for my office. I’ve felt like my home is starting to lean too feminine/sissy/fragile so I’ve been on the lookout for a substantial item that isn’t girly for each room. This mirror was a perfect find. Oh and the bird lamps I found years ago for $39 each at TJ Maxx. And that white little file stand thing in the middle was also from TJ Maxx, had it for 5 years. The baskets are probably from Marshalls. My poor husband. We should have bought stock in those stores.
TJ Maxx and Marshalls are giving away 4 $25 gift cards. These are good at either store, and if your Home Goods is the SAME store as TJ Shalls, you can use it there too, but if your Home Goods is a store by itself without a TJ’s or a Shalls, then I don’t think it will work. Remember out chat up there? I think gift cards are better than cash because if I have cash I buy gas or milk or something boring. Want to win one? Leave a comment, tell me your best find at TJ Maxx/Marshalls.
And by all means, if you don’t have a lamp, please use the gift card to get yourself a lamp, it will make your evenings so much nicer.

I found hot pink sheers for my bedroom for $5.99 apiece! I mean, that’s just insane!
So I don’t actually HAVE a best find at either store ’cause I’ve never shopped there! But I would love to get the gift card so I COULD shop there, especially because we just moved into a new apartment. Also, my current decorating budget is 0$, so this would be a fun little excursion.
We are getting ready to move and it would be awesome to have a little something to decorate with! I’ve always had good luck in the linens dept.
My best find wasn’t a home item, but hey, who cares? :) It was a pair of jeans that fit me amazingly (this was before it was easy to find pants in short lengths), were really unique, and of course… were really cheap. ^_^
My best finds at those stores are probably gifts for others. I love picking up various notecard sets or other paper goods in their stationary area – they make great additions to baskets for teacher gifts. They also typically have some good, and much cheaper options for toys for taking to all of the birthday parties that my kids get invited to. The other day I bought a K’Nex set for my nephew for 7.99. When I got home I comparison shopped online, and found it retails at $24.
I haven’t been there in sooo long! The one near me closed, but there is another TJ’s close to my workplace…hmmm. Might have to stop by there soon! We got some really pretty picture frames there to put our wedding pics in.
Oooooh gifties! I know I’m not the only one to say this, but CRIKEY it is hard to pick just one best thing. The ironwork scrolly doohicks above my tv? The 2 matlesse comforters I rotated on my bed? The RL 600 thread count delicious sheets? The linens are wonderful. I think it might have been the sheets. Clearanced. $30. INCRED.
I found your website the other day while googling lamps. Because of this post, I went to Home Goods for the first time today and LOVED IT!!! I left with two frames and a vase… but only because I couldn’t decide on anything else. Too many other wonderful things! I would LOVE a gift card!
I would have so much fun in there!!!
Just curious – where/how do you store all your accessories, lamps, furniture when you’re not using them? I notice that you rearrange and move things around or buy them to use at a later date…I feel like I never have any where to store those kinds of items in my house!!
I have two… a Le Crusset oval dutch oven in my favorite color (red) for $125 (I.know.right!?!?!) and some sweet Italian pottery dishes… plates… bowls… mugs… a service for 8 at 1.99 – 3.99 a piece!
My bedding set! My husband is deployed and I’ve slowly been re-doing our bedroom into a nice retreat for when he comes home. I just need a few more acessories and a lamp now. LOVE the things I’ve been finding at MarshMaxx :-) Bedding, Bathroom rug, dresser clutter catch box, curtains, curtain rod, picture frame, trash can, shower curtain……
TJ Marsh?
My best find? That’s hard to say since there are so many. I do love the bright red poppy painting that hangs in my bathroom.
Antiqued gold framed mirror sconces. One on either side of my fireplace for $19 each. Love um and have gotten so many compliments.

I always tell my honey that “Homegoods IS my hobby!” because I make a trip weekly. I don’t think I have EVER left empty handed. I live for that store. (and) I die.
My favorite finds have been: Jadeite glass lamps (pair), My Wustof knives, a Le Creuset dutch oven, an All-Clad roasting pan, OHH!! My Ralph Lauren Herringbone Crystal Glasses, My Waterford set, My everyday White ware dishes….My dining room chairs, I Could go on and on! I LOOOOOOVE this store. We should have bought stock too!
I’m afraid to say my best find isn’t actually a home dec item…although I do dig on plates, pillows and vases at my Teej (we are on a first name basis)…my best finds are in the beauty aisle…so many brands for so little cash. Right now I’m on a total Philosophy kick – lotions and potions for cheap!
Some gorgeous blue egyptian cotton sheets. So comfy.
Thanks for the chance to win! :)
I’ve been a TJShalls fan for, like, EVAR. :) I just found out we may actually have a HomeGoods in the city, but I haven’t investigated. Must do soon.
It would be hard to pick one best find…it was probably clothing. Oh, but I did get an awesome furry white throw last fall for 10 bucks which is even better than the ones they were selling for $60 at the Pier1 next door.
Um – yes!! As in “yes-please-I’d-love-that-gift-card!!!” And “yes-MarshMaxx-is-my-favorite-store-EVER!!!”
Love these stores!! Was there yesterday and picked up some trucks for my son for Christmas, and a new table runner for the dining room redecorating project!
Thanks for the opportunity!

I just got 3 awesome lamps for a total of $51!! .. I get shoes, clothes for the whole fam… LOVE some TJ!
I love our Marshalls Home Goods store, I could buy sooooo much there. My recent find was some sunflower acessories for my french country kitchen. And I could really use some lamps! :)
I love shopping TJM and M for gifts too. My best find for my home was a beautiful area rug for my foyer and a great urn/vase to hold kitchen utensils. We are closing on our new house tomorrow and cant wait to go to TJM and decorate!
Hmmm, best find at my TJ Maxx/Home Goods–was it the desk chair for $25? The fish-shaped bowls for a fraction of what I had already paid at a fancy boutique? Super cheap designer hand towels? Could be those or any number of other great finds! Love that place!!!
Okay, here’s the funny thing!! I have never been on your blog before today. I was supposed to be out RIGHT NOW at Home Goods- I got 2 gift cards for my birthday, but instead I decided to stay home and look up blogs. I came across yours and got so inspired, because I am on a quest to update my home decor. We have very little money, but I have $60 to spend at Home Goods. What do you recommend I buy to get started? Loved your blog!!
Oh yes, a TJ Maxx or Marshalls gift card would be a lovely win. I love everything in their stores.
I love everything they have!!! I’ve bought vases, serving pieces, sheets & pillowcases, bath accessories, and a baster shaped like a turkey!!!
(Delurking)
Honestly, I’ve been out of the decorate/spend money stage for so long that I couldn’t tell you my last find anywhere. We just haven’t had the money to spend, no matter how inexpensive. I’m starting to want to do some updating/changing around my home though and I do need to check out the TJ Maxx.

Whenever I am kid free I spend my time going up and down every aisle, over and over. I LOVE me some Home Goods. My hubby painted my bathroom this weekend and I am planning on hitting HG in the morning to look for rugs. My best find, would have to be the vases and apothocary type jars. It is hands down the BEST place to find them. So cheap!! I was at the Myrtle Beach one w/ my girlfriends earlier this summer and they had tons, even more than my trusty CLT store. I was in heaven!! I bought many!
actually!! a LAMP!! found it at marshall’s. it’s shaped like a…..hmm….curved in rectangle. fat on the ends, skinny in the middle…black frame, covered in twigs. i LOVE it and at $24 it was perfect for our newly redecorated family room!
TJ Maxx/Homegoods is THE place to get my lavender soap fix! I head to the damaged/clearence isle and pluck them up. I don’t care if the bar has a dent or if the pump is broken. Also, I have a kitchen stocked with every imaginable gadget from garlic press to stainless steel wisks. My best buy though was probably a huge wool area rug, normally $625, for $229. I love, love, love those stores.
Not terribly exciting but I buy all my towels there. Easy and always great brands. Can sometimes find great sheets & kitchen towels too.
I always get the best candles, pillows, lamps and home decor finds for amazing prices!!! I also love that their beautiful furniture and rugs are so inexpensive!! TJ Maxx/Marshalls are my favorite stores, I honestly stop in once a week to see what’s been dropped off in new shipments, I think I’m addicted. :)
My favorite things are my Born shoes found at Marshalls and my glass vases I turned into lamps.
Two glass topped tables that look exactly like the PB bunching tables! They were $100 each instead of $250 each! We love them!
Round side table. I have been looking forever. It is blue and I planned to paint it black, but while we were redoing our floors it was moved into the office we loved it there and with the blue! It was $50 as compared with the $200 I was seeing everywhere else.
I want to win!! Love those stores!
I love hunting for household goods at TJ Maxx, but my best find there ever was a dress. In fact, my SECOND best find there was also a dress! The first was a dress I fell in love with at a different store but couldn’t pay $98 for. I got it for $3 at TJ Maxx. Last summer I found a gorgeous evening dress there for $35. I loved it so much that I accidentally ordered the exact same dress (different color) online from Macy’s a few months later, thinking it was a steal at $75. Ha!
I love buying gifts at TJ Max. It is so easy to pick up a great item and stay within budget!
My mom has a “You are special today!” plate that we get to eat off of when it’s our birthday or some other special day. I found the EXACT SAME ONE at Homegoods for $5.99!
Ah, I love me some TJMaxx!! My favorite find? That’s kind of hard to say but I’m going to go with the art that’s hanging above my bed… I’m pretty sure it’s meant to go in a bathroom but it matches my room perfectly!
I have found many things at these stores … but my favorite is something I haven’t bought (yet). An upholstered bench that would make the perfect coffee table in my living room. Only $199. Oh, and I do not have a single lamp in my house. I don’t know how I’ve made it this long, but a lamp would be nice for my nightstand!
Too many things to pick just one favorite! If I had to pick…my outdoor cushions are so beautiful…I absolutely love them!
I’ve still never been to a HomeGoods…they don’t have them here. But Marshall’s has great home decor stuff. I found a lamp for cheap there once. Love:)
I bought a 12 inch Calphalon saute pan that I adore! I use it nearly everyday!
Love me some Maxx! My best find for non-clothes was a great platter. Use it all the time.
TJ Max and Homegoods are my FAVORITE stores! My very favorite find it a large green dimpled glass vase that is very round with a short neck that has twine tied around it for $19.95!!!! Awesome find! Please pick me, pick me for the giftcard! Especially since today is my birthday! lol
I too love to shop at Marshall’s …… (it’s a great place to buy teacher’s gifts) not sure what item would be my best or favorite purchase …. maybe the “S” letters that I find there
Hi Nester,
First time poster, long time stalker! I have to say two of my favorite peices I recently found at TJ Maxx are my FAVES by far. I was able to find the most adorable light navy metal bird case- the shape is beautiful, and also the most gorgous white plate for my entry way table. I paid $18 for the bird house and $3.50 for the plate. I in LUV with both of them and they just make me happy when I look at them. For that much happiness, I’m thinking that was a wonderful find at TJ Maxx for sure!
