It’s about time HGTV smartened up and figured out that the people who hang out at Nesting Place are the smartest, designyest, funniest, brilliantest, wittiest, most beautiful people on God’s green earth. And we are, aren’t we what with our hot glued mistreated fabrics, our Goodwill coffee tables and our embracing of all things imperfect?
Anyway, they like us so much, that they’ve invited us to join them this Sunday for a party. Not only that, it’s the perfect kind of party for ordinary hermits like myself, you don’t even have to get dressed. You don’t even have to talk. At least not out loud.
HGTV has invited the Nesting Place community to this Sunday’s Design Star Twitter Party. You have been watching Design Star right? You do know who Nina and Dan and Tom and Michael are, right? If not, no worries, you can catch up on all the past episodes here or you can just watch it this Sunday and tweet along with us.
Heather Armstrong, from Dooce, and I will be hosting the party. Lucky for me that role doesn’t entail standing at the door making small talk. I’m really bad at that. Plus, I would probably be staring at Heather’s hair the whole time wishing mine were short and sassy and blonde. So instead, let’s all meet on twitter Sunday night at 9:55 EST. We’ll watch Design Star and we’ll all put the hashtag designstar {#designstar} in our tweets so we can find each other. And because I am helpless and cannot do anything without my bloggy BFF I’ve already made Melissa promise she’ll hang out with us too.

Also, I have been really horrible about following people back on twitter who follow me. About a year ago my email inbox was so deep that I had all my twitter emails auto filed so I wouldn’t have to open them each time they came in my inbox. My goal was to go through them every other day or so and follow people back. However, mostly I just forgot to ever check it. If you would like me to follow you, would you send me a tweet on twitter? Just include @thenester in your tweet and I will follow you post haste, I really want to follow you.
Seriously, you want to follow me because the information I share on twitter is no less than riveting, life changing, Nobel Peace Prize worthy. As you can see I have a unique perspective and genius that cannot be equalled. “I would use old fashioned soap and water” write that down people, it’s gold. And believe you me, there’s a lot more where that came from.

Ahhhhh…..OK so Nester I hate twitter parties because I get all confused and can’t keep up with the conversations and say stupid things like I love Sarah from Sarah’s house and then I realize it is Genevieve not Sarah on the show and I look like a complete fool and have to pretend my internet went out so I can have a moment regain my composure. But, I”ll be there. Yes I will. Because that is what BFF are for. We make fools of ourselves together. And don’t even get us started on that topic.

Anyways, “Design Star” is my favorite show, Tera was my favorite (I was sad when she got booted, because not only was she my favorite for design, but I really liked the way she dressed and did her hair, so I was hoping to get more style ideas from her throughout the show, too) and your little guy totally looks like David Bromstad. While I truly love your blog, AND Melissa’s AND Dooce’s – I am not a twitterer, nor am I a big fan of HGTV. Okay, there I said it. Maybe someone will read these comments and take a hint. I used to love HGTV but I think they have changed so much and have done away with many of the shows I liked. I do like Sarah’s House and Curb Appeal, if I ever find it. That’s about it for me. I’ve never watched Design Star, so I would be totally lost there, LOL.
Should be a hoot hosting with Heather (but BTW your own lovely locks suit you – can’t imagine you with short, sassy blond hair!).

okay, here’s where I get to say, YAY! and BOO HOO! all at the same time because I live in stupid Alaska (not really stupid, but for these purposes, yes, stupid) which is 4 hours between all your EST fun. Well, I must be an “old lady” since I don’t Twitter or Face Book, no matter how many times my friends tell me to do so. Man, you must really be popular if you have to funnel your incoming tweets/emails into folders to read later because you get so many! Well, I just happened upon your post here, and am reading how popular you are — especially seeing the comments here of people saying they are not on Twitter, or they are even without having cable TV to see HGTV, and they are still nominating you to have a show on HGTV! This sounds like fun! I have just started watching the show, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I have been to only one twitter party, and it was pretty fun. I was a little confused though. I couldn’t seem to keep up with the conversation. I loved reading everyone’s tweets anyway!

To be honest, this season of Design Star has been rough for me. All the contestants look like models, not real people. I haven’t been able to connect with any of them on like an “I like you we could be friends” type level. I just get annoyed and think that HGTV has sunk to the soap opera level. I won’t be joining this year.
