I TOTALLY agree with this. In fact, its been my own philosophy that I just never wrote down:) Im totally different from my mom and sister who have to have everything looking perfect and in its place at ALL times in their homes. Dont get me wrong: I wish my house could automatically pick up after everyone. However, I would rather people be able to sit around and relax. Not have to worry about the carpet(we wont go into how my mom has WHITE carpet and everyone is required to remove their shoes upon entering the house).
Its funny but Ive always equated it to the Mary and Martha story in the Bible. One stresses about the meal and everything that needs to get done. The other was sitting with Jesus, relaxing, and gleaning solid truths. Id much rather be the one who can relax and enjoy my home...esp surrounded by those I love the most:)

I'm a new reader (and apparently one of the few left who wasn't reading your blog!) and you had me saying Amen! while reading this post. How true this is! Love your thoughts on making house a home. I would love to link to this on my blog.

BTW, my favorite part was about leaving the plastic on the sofa until Jesus drops by. Too funny! I'll try to remember this next time one of my kids does something gross on our couch :)
