I was packing my magazine collection the other day and saw the photo above. Yes, It’s a bad, bad thing that I cannot throw away any of my Southern Livings–great recipes, great gardens and of course, great house ideas. But I’m so glad because I ran across this fun idea to make a sideboard out of wood and fabric.

If you’re like me you are not gonna go buy wood but a few years ago, I turned an old particle board cheap shelf on it’s side and it was a good height for a sofa table. I got out my upholstery tacks and fabric, made some pleats and it turned out really cute. Look, they even fabriced the top! It’s like a mistreatment for a table. What else could we mistreat? Tables, shelves, cabinets–remember this project?

Look at that. A beautiful mistreatment. Yes, the rod is off center but it was a 25 cent yard sale find, I think it’s some kind of flag pole thing. But look at that toile. I must have a really tall window in my bathroom. Don’t you wish that you had tall windows too? What?!? [...]
